Google to announce the next Android 4.5 and a Nexus 8 tablet in July, claim insiders

Google to announce the next Android 4.5 and a Nexus 8 tablet in July, claim insiders
Google won't be using its annual I/O conference in June to announce the next, Android 4.5 version, claim insiders. The I/O event will be utilized to demonstrate a bunch of new Google services, while the Android-related announcements will be left for July.

The source, allegedly from Google's vast offices in Dublin, also tipped that his managers are talking a Nexus 8 tablet release, that will be used as a poster child for Android 4.5. Google is allegedly throwing in the towel on 7-inchers, due to the cutthroat competition that formed in that segment, and will take it up a notch, to the 8-inch realm. There's only a handful of Android slates in that market niche for now, like the Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, and LG’s G Pad 8.3, so the move might be warranted.

This rumor contradicts the previous speculation that Google will be ready with the first batch of two million Nexus 8 tablet units, built by Asus, by the end of April. Nothing is mentioned about the eventual specs of the rumored tablet, though we've heard before that the Nexus 8 might be using Intel's new mobile processors. There is also no word yet on its pricing scheme, or what will be the new features in the speculated Android 4.5 update, but we've got plenty of time for more leaks to happen between now and the summer.

The next Android name will start with L, so don't get your hopes on the "Key Lime Pie". How about Android 4.5 Lemonade?

What about Lemon Bar instead, it's a treat that is edible, and it's short and simple.

There is no Key Lime Pie, Google goes alphabetical on Android, and after I.CS, J.elly Bean and K.it Kat, it's gonna be L.something, or still gonna be called Kit Kat considering about 7% of Androids sport that version.

Lemonheads! Loved those things when I was a kid... I like the Lassi idea, though maybe they'll wait for 5.0 and call it Mango Lassi? :-)

I don't think they need too because Android in my opinion is still ahead of iOS and WP. Why give Apple an opportunity to put on a chart that only 2% of Android devices have 5.X? Looks better for Google to say that over 80% are running 4.X.

That makes no sense. At some point, 5.0 will come out & as a result of that, it will eventually have a 2% device penetration. Who cares what Apple has to say about it?

K already taken by KitKat which means Key Lime Pie officially dead, It is not a favor dessert of Android.

4.5 possible is minor updates or bugs fix and it will still calling KitKat.

Next huge update possible only start with 5.x and will be starting with L dessert.

Well, I have yet to notice any improvement on my Moto X running ART. I was told that it was due to Motorola taking the extra effort to customize everything to make it as efficient on Dalvak as possible.
