Yes, the likes of Walmart and Best Buy will try everything in their power to upstage their arch-rival in the remaining hours to the official start of this year's first Prime Day extravaganza, and if you're in the market for some of the best high-end Bluetooth wireless headphones in the world, you might as well purchase the AirPods Max 2 right now.
That's because Apple's latest (and, of course, greatest) over-ear cans are already marked down from a $549.99 list price to $399 in no less than five different colorways. This is a totally unprecedented Walmart promotion that improves on a non-Prime-exclusive Amazon deal from a couple of weeks ago, and although I obviously can't know what the future holds, I really don't expect the e-commerce giant to be able to offer a heftier discount than 150 bucks tomorrow.
After all, the second-gen AirPods Max are still very young, having only seen daylight in April (yes, this April), and even the first-gen AirPods Max have been pretty much impossible to find at deeper discounts than $150 during their years of availability before a sequel was released.

Now, it must be said that the AirPods Max 2 are normally kind of overpriced compared to key rivals like the Sony WH-1000XM6 and Bose QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen). But if you're a hardcore Apple fan, you probably never gave those alternatives a second thought, and now you can actually buy the headphones you want at a (fairly) reasonable price.
The unmistakable design, ultra-high-quality Spatial Audio technology with dynamic head tracking support, and world-class active noise cancellation are undoubtedly the main selling points here (especially at a lower-than-ever price), and although the battery life is not exactly mind-blowing, it's not that bad either, promising up to 20 hours of uninterrupted listening time (just like on the original AirPods Max). Oh, and of course, you don't need a special membership or anything like that to qualify for Walmart's exceptional Prime Day-upstaging deal.
