The recently launched Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 might not have the same appeal as it had six month ago, especially when it's being released with Android 1.6, but the joint venture is still moving forward with their next creation. Targeting the opposite category of the X10, the Xperia X8 is sizing up to be an entry-level Android smartphone that will attack pricing more than anything else. Unfortunately, it's going to follow in the same footsteps as other recent Xperia devices as it'll sport Android 1.6 from the onset. Although it'll attempt to cover some of its misfortunes with its heavily customized experience, an update to Android 2.1 is scheduled to occur some time during Q4 – making for another lengthy wait for Sony Ericsson fans. Packing on features like a 3” display, 3.2-megapixel camera, and a 600MHz processor, the most interesting part about the X8 is going to be its speculated low price tag of $300 – unlocked. That's pretty impressive when you think about the $500 and up prices found on other current Android smartphones available in the US Market – plus it's unlocked! Although there is no official launch date confirmed, it's expected to hit land some time very soon.
