Sony Ericsson has introduced six new mobile phones at its Press Event in New York, today. The new devices include two high-end K750 successors - K800 and K790, the clamshell walkman phone – W300 as well as three mid-range camera phones – K510, Z530 and K310. All these handsets are expected to be commercially available in Q2 2006.

To emphasize their digital camera capabilities, the new Sony Ericsson K800 and K790 phones will carry the Cyber-Shot brand, which is used by Sony's digital cameras. Turning the phones horizontally and sliding the lens's cover downwards starts a user interface similar to the Cyber-Shot one. A new feature called BestPic enables the phones to captures 9 images with a single shutter press - 4 pictures before and 4 pictures after the actual image you captured. All 9 pictures are displayed as icons on the display. Simply scroll backwards and forwards through the 9 images and save the ones you like best.

Both phones are physically identical, with K800 being a tri-band GSM/GPRS with 3G support, while the K790 is tri-band GSM/EDGE. Compared to their K750 predicessor, the new devices have their camera upgraded to 3.2 mega pixels, the screen size increased to QVGA (240x320) and instead of Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Micro (M2) is used.
