Nokia fires 550 employees of its R&D division
Nokia has officially announced they are to lay off 3% of all people working in the R&D department of the company worldwide, which means 550 employees are to be showed the exit door - 230 of them of the Finnish headquarters, 100 of the Dutch branch and 220 of the Japanese respectively. The manufacturer, however, plans to provide retraining and relocate as many people within the company as possible. The company hasn´t embarked on the negotiations with local labor unions yet and most probably the severance deal will include monetary compensation.
