"This could be the reason for the delay DROID 'owndes' have ..." OWNERS. But I always thought the animated Wallpapers were fun. If it does drain battery life, you could always switch to a static/different background.

A cool but yet completely useless function.

this is nothing more than idle speculation just like your posts from a few weeks ago saying animated wallpepers weren't going to be in 2.1 for the Droid. these videos tell us nothing except that someone shoehorned 2.1 onto a Droid which is old news. and the legitimacy of the rom is highly suspect since anyone with the knowledge to cook 1 can have it say anything they want.

I just downloaded the 2.1 to my Eris and I have the animated wallpaper, the turn by turn navigation, and the touchscreen ability is much better. What I found also cool is the main page now you can do the pinch method and now you have 7 main screens in a carousel formation. I don't know if this is stupid but will the 2.1 for the Droid have similar enhancements or no?

hey, did the 2.1 update require you to root your phone? Did you need anything other than the rom like busybox or spr recovery. Im trying to do it for my friend. I'm running 2.1 on my droid but not sure on how to do it on the eris.

not at all. My buddy just plugged it into his laptop and it was done within 7 minutes. He then handed it to me and I had to do the whole setting up the phone again. I was worried that it was going to be a brick, but it's pretty sick now. The only problem i found out is that it voids the warranty on the phone... But it's smooth sailing so far with no issues...

eris doesnt even have root yet. you put the rom on the root of your sd card and hole the power button and i believe the end button and it goes into recovery and etc. i have a droid so i wouldnt know the exact details.

the eris was rooted pretty much at launch. All androids have root at this point. The only hard ones are the ones with MotoBlur on them because Motorola locks them down tight.

WnnaFght... I hate to ask this but what is es56 and es58 and what is the difference between the two? Is there a way that i can find out which one i have? All i know is that i now have 7 home screens when i pinch the main screen. I'm still going thru the phone to see what else is different, so far it's a big improvement from where it was...
