Latest Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) is certified in China by TENAA
Last month, Asus introduced a third-generation model of the Asus Fonepad 7 (model number FE375CL). For those of you not familiar with the Fonepad line, this is a tablet-sized device that comes with the ability to make/take phone calls. The newest version of the Fonepad 7 not only comes with Android 5.0 right out of the box, it also brings some significant improvements to other parts of the device.

For example, the dual-core 1.2GHz Intel Intel Atom Z2520 chipset on last year's version of the Asus Fonepad 7 has been replaced by a 64-bit quad-core 1.3GHz Intel Atom Z3530 SoC. The 7-inch screen on the latest model has a higher 800 x 1280 resolution, compared to the 600 x 1024 resolution on the second-generation model. There is now 2GB of RAM on the third-gen Fonepad 7, with 32GB of native storage. That doubles up the 1GB of RAM and 16GB of memory that came with last year's version of the unit. The 2MP rear camera on the previous model has been bumped to 5MP while the front snapper has gone from .3MP to 2 MP. The device supports 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The third-gen Asus Fonepad 7 has been certified in China by TENAA, which is that country's equivalent to the FCC in the states. We expected the device to launch first in the country, and it appears that the process has started. With the new Fonepad 7 listed on the company's global website, we could see it made available around the world. Pricing is expected to come in under $235 USD, and the device will come in Black and White Gold Red.

Thanks for the tip!
