Gmail 5.0 starts its official roll-out - Material Design and support for all email providers
The official Gmail 5.0 update has been announced and should be rolling out to devices as we speak. Some of you have probably already downloaded the leaked .apk that was made available this past weekend and from the looks of it – nothing has changed in the official version.

The newest Gmail app update (finally) adds support for 3rd party email providers – such as Yahoo, Outlook, and any other provider, who supports POP/IMAP (read: most, if not all). Aside from this pretty significant upgrade, the app also gets a visual refresh, to fall in line with Android Lollipop's Material Design looks – everything looks “flatter”, while colors are brighter, and animations assist in helping the user find their bearings.

Gmail is not the first app to receive Material Design – so far, we've had updates for Chrome, Newsstand, Play Store, and Wallet, all slowly easing us into the new design language, giving us a peak at what we should expect from Android 5.0.

Do you have the new Gmail app yet? Enjoying the new design?
