On September 19 last year, Apple released the svelte iPhone Air. Right off the bat, there were concerns about the 3,149 mAh battery and the single 48MP Fusion rear camera. Despite having only one lens, the advanced software and sensor cropping allowed the camera to offer 2x optical zoom and the next-generation portrait mode. It does not have an ultra-wide or telephoto lens and does not record spatial video or have a macro mode.
Why some iPhone Air buyers returned their phones
There was much excitement around the release of the iPhone Air. Some consumers who bought the device eventually got tired of it or couldn't get used to the smaller battery and limited camera and traded their iPhone Air for an iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max. Some reports show that the iPhone Air depreciated by an amazingly high 47.7% after only 10 weeks because of weaker consumer demand and a soft secondary market for the device.

Despite all of this, Apple has been working on the sequel, and the latest episode of Jon Prosser's FPT includes renders of the iPhone Air 2. Prosser, as you probably know, is being sued by Apple over his iOS 19 leaks early in 2025.
Prosser says he won't say how he knows, but he knows that there will be two rear cameras on the sequel
In the latest FPT video, Prosser plays it cool. He says that he won't say how he knows, but he knows that Apple will squeeze two camera lenses on the camera plateau for the iPhone Air 2. This eliminates one of the complaints that iPhone Air users have had. Prosser says that the iPhone Air 2 will be equipped with a 48MP main camera and a 48MP ultra-wide camera.

Apple will only raise iPhone prices by $50, according to Prosser and J.P. Morgan
Jon says that Apple will redesign Face ID in order to make just enough internal space to fit the second camera. Prosser also discussed the 2nm A20 or A20 Pro chip that will power the sequel, noting that the 2nm process node used to manufacture the component will make the phone more powerful and energy efficient. It also will keep the titanium build from the first-generation model.
The renders are based on leaks about the device, including those from the Apple supply chain. Prosser also agrees with J.P. Morgan analysts who say that Apple will raise iPhone prices by $50, not by the $100 to $300 that others have forecast.
