Apple selling the iPhone contract-free?
It seems that U.S. customers can now walk in every Apple store and purchase an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G contract-free. An internal Apple document has shown up, stating that all employees are now free to offer the device to customers, who won't subscribe for an AT&T service agreement or present an ID.

While this is nice to know, keep in mind that you can only purchase one iPhone per day. The pricing is as follows: $499 for the 8GB iPhone 3G, $599 for the 16GB iPhone 3GS, and $699 for the 32GB iPhone 3GS.

You guys would be surprise i used to work for ATT and when it comes to something they really want the price doesn't matter; but i agree with yall i wouldn't buy that unless it was $99 contract which will never happen. So basically i telling yall that i would never buy one.....lol

once it goes on multiple carriers, i fully expect the base model at least to hit the $100 pricepoint. yea sorry, if/when it comes to tmobile and VZW and its stacked beside all those Androids and the new HD2, it just cant keep up. It really is the Razor of touchscreen phones, and Id expect it to eventually be treated as such.. LOL

No phone is worth that!

Right? But if you look on ebay, they are still selling for that much...which is ridiculous. So I'm guessing instead of buying it on eBay, they can buy them directly from the store. Gives them more business I'm guessing.

but the ebay ones are unlocked...

5. oddmanout posted on 23 Mar 2010, 14:32

yeah thats ridiculous... HD2s don't even cost that much. I dont even think droids do either... theyre out of their minds.

moto droid is 599.99 full retail from motorola

6. jundibasam posted on 23 Mar 2010, 14:54

I wasn't eligible for an upgrade until this July but Verizon Cust Service Rep gave me 25% discount off the Droid's full retail that left me paying about $400, but I didn't have to sign a contract and still get my upgrade in July in time for the iPhone or a new Android phone comes out! By then, i'll be able to make about $200 to $300 for the Droid on Ebay, so i'll get most of the money back anyway.

That is an extremely ignorant statement Gowireless, the price of a stock doesn't mean anything. If Google does a stock split then there shares are only worth $275. If they do a double stock split or a 4:1 ratio then it is only $112.50 a share. Maybe learn something about the stock market before you say dumb stuff like that.

Are you comparing the iPhone to all the android power phones that are out today?

18. jhoots posted on 24 Mar 2010, 13:21

why would you do a stock split??

21. theman10 posted on 24 Mar 2010, 17:51

Companies do it all the time, when a stock costs less you earn less per share, but you are able to purchase more shares. Companies do it so that more people are able to purchase the stock.
