Galaxy Z TriFold biggest flaw might be addressed in its successor
For comparison, the recently released Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a thickness of 9.7 mm and weighs only 201 grams. The phone was even heavier than the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which weighs 214 grams. Samsung is reportedly working on addressing these two concerns.
According to details recently shared by a well-known tipster, Lanzuk, the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 will be thinner, lighter, and feature a more durable design. Lanzuk has also previously shared information on how Samsung is planning to fix the main pain points in the next version of the triple-folding phone. You see, the two-hinge mechanism of the original TriFold is the main reason behind its thick profile, but its successor might come with a completely new hinge mechanism that would ultimately help make the device thinner and lighter.

The Galaxy Z TriFold 2 could launch early
There have been reports in the past that Samsung might delay the release of the second version of its triple-folding phone due to rising costs and component scarcity. Turns out, the tech giant is considering changing its plans. Lanzuk has mentioned on its blog that the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 could see an early release, most likely in July next year.
Well, it's definitely not officially confirmed, but I believe the launch of the iPhone Duo might be the main reason why Samsung could be thinking of accelerating the release of the TriFold successor. You see, with Apple's entry into the foldable market, the South Korean giant has a new competitor to deal with in this segment as well. I believe that, to maintain its competitive edge, Samsung will look to fast-track the launch of its upcoming foldable phones instead of giving Apple much time to settle in.
All that said, the tipster further mentions that the company is planning to launch the TriFold 2 at the same price as its predecessor, which was available at $2,899. Samsung is reportedly planning to increase the price of some of its models, which include the Galaxy S26, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and a few more, because of the ongoing memory crisis. That's why it will be interesting to see whether the company is really able to launch the TriFold 2 at the same price as the original.

In addition to sharing some interesting details about the second generation of the TriFold, Lanzuk also mentioned in their blog that Samsung would launch a slidable phone. We have been hearing about this device for some time, and the tipster believes that it could launch alongside the TriFold 2 next year.
None of the specifications of this upcoming product have surfaced to date, other than that it could be entirely different from standard foldables. Instead of choosing between a folded or unfolded display, you might be given the option to extend the screen as wide as you want.
Looking forward to the slidable smartphone
Samsung's plan to launch the TriFold 2 with much-needed improvements is definitely exciting news, but I, personally, am looking forward to the first slidable device from Samsung. It's definitely not that the slidable, aka rollable, concept hasn't been considered before. In fact, LG did develop a device called the LG Rollable, but it was never publicly released.
That's why Samsung's slidable device becomes a big deal, because when it comes out, it could become the world's first commercially available phone of that form factor.
