The iPhone XR 2 may have the best battery life of any iPhone

The iPhone XR 2 may have the best battery life of any iPhone
Tucked in an electronics industry report about the supplier of batteries for the upcoming iPhone XR sequel we find the actual capacity of the pack in the tentatively named XR 2. The source muses that Apple may be done with hardware and iOS optimizations, and seems to be now betting on larger battery packs to make its phones last longer on a charge, just like Samsung or Huawei are doing.

The iPhone XR 2 battery pack orders are reportedly granted to China's ATL (Amperex) which are the same guys that got the order for non-exploding Galaxy Note 7 packs after the infamous Samsung SDI batteries started catching on fire. The new battery capacity is said to be 3110 mAh, which would make the iPhone XR's successor with the largest single-cell battery pack in an iPhone ever.

While this is just a 5% increase over the 2942 mAh capacity in the iPhone XR, the XR 2 is also expected to come with Apple's A13 processor made with a second generation 7nm process that should reduce battery draw further.

Coupled with the new pack and the frugal display resolution, the iPhone XR (2019) should therefore last longer on a charge than the already best in that regard iPhone XR. It scored more than 11 hours of screen-on time in our grueling test, ahead of any iPhone we have tested so far. The XR 2 may very well break the 12-hour mark which would place it in a special endurance club of its own, and not only among phones in the iOS camp.

Here's how the iPhone XR (2019) may look like, as rendered by graphics artist Hasan Kaymak based on rumors, leaked CAD drawings, and analyst expectations.

3110 + HD screen .... Still many androids with QHD + 3300 will last more

While androids has QHD, 1% uses it because it drains battery fast and still there are many android phones suffer from android hungry battery drain. Android phones are turned off every now and then while iPhones are turned off only after updates. Android battery issues are endless with poor hardware and software optimization.

Iphones always have the worst results of battery test of a local tech site here. The simulate real use, not webscript .... I've seen phone with more screen and less battery last more than iphones.

At least this time around Phonearena got the title right. "best battery life of any iPhone". Which is definitely not the best battery life compared to every smartphone (Android).

Actually QHD doesn't drain battery fast. I use it and have no problem getting through a full day. It's faster than full HD but not exponentially faster like your lack of awareness shows. No clue what you are talking about with reference to Android or iPhones turning off. And Apple has some of the worst battery degredation in any flagship. Next.

Oh, boy, the hate for Apple products is getting bigger every day...

That's because people are sick of the lies from Apple and their liar zealots.

That's because some people have nothing to do but to invent stuff in order to talk trash about Apple. Stay away from their products (and articles) and the entire world will be better for all of us.

Ah yes, that is why most forums battery related issues are samsung flagships having s**ttier battery usage and other android devices.

I love the "It scored more than 11 hours of screen-on time in our grueling test". Your PA battery tests are garbage and everyone knows it. Running a web script endlessly isn't a battery test. Meanwhile @iloveapps " battery issues are endless with poor hardware and software optimization". My NexS averages, yes averages, 9hrs of SOT with about 20 apps in the background and around 15% remaining. If I push it I can get close to 11hrs. That's optimization. The Oppo Reno is even better. So pull your tongue out of Tim Cook's a$$ and stop talking $hit.

Xr battery life is already below xs and xs max because of LCD display. iPhone 11 and max battery life will be better than XR2

It is not.... It has HD screen that saves a lot. Oled does not save as much as people think. Most used apps are browsers. Websites are white (few have dark layout option) and oled uses more power than LCD when image is white.

Watch battery comparisons between xs and xr. Even small xs last longer than xr

Real world usage is all that matters and people I know that use an XR can't stop gloating about their battery life. Don't watch garbage battery comparison videos, those don't mean s**t.

I have the xr and the battery life is not as good as on this site. They must have some kind of special Apple battery software or something to make the battery life so great.

I only believe the data that I can corroborate from different, trustworthy sources that provide me with all the facts. Unfortunately (for those said "comparisons") I have been using both devices and I know exactly how much they both last with my usage pattern.

Will they go with iPhone XR2? Seems a bit confusing especially if the next flagship is the iPhone 11, for the budget flagship to be called the iPhone Ten R Two. Then again, if they call it the iPhone 11R, then NEXT year, when their flagship is the iPhone 11S, does the budget flagship become the iPhone 11SR? Perhaps it's time for an entirely new naming convention. Maybe they just go with the year like they've done with iPads. So we'll have the 2019 iPhone, 2019 iPhone Max, and the 2019 iPhone Essential (rebrand of R). /shrug
