New Moto Mods announced, Amazon Alexa and Gamepad options included

In addition to officially presenting the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus, today, Lenovo and Motorola announced several new Moto Mods for the Moto Z smartphone series.

First and foremost, in partnership with Amazon, Motorola is readying an Alexa Moto Mod. Expected to be released sometime later this year (for a price that hasn't been unveiled), this Mod will rely on Amazon's digital assistant to let you perform various tasks while on the go: check the news and weather, control your smart home, request a ride from the likes of Uber and Lyft, and so on, all by voice. Interestingly, Motorola says that Amazon Alexa will actually be integrated into its phones beginning this year - more details will be announced at a later date.

Other new Moto Mods include:

  • Moto Power Pack (coming in March to provide 50% extra battery life for $49)
  • Wireless Charging Moto Mod (we're not yet sure if this is the same model that can be ordered from Indiegogo)
  • Turbo Power Moto Mod
  • Gamepad Moto Mod (with physical gaming controls and built-in battery, coming this summer for an unknown price)
For now, Motorola isn't showing any of its upcoming Moto Mods. Nevertheless, we'll reveal them to you as soon as we can.
