How to stop all iPhones in the house from ringing at the same time on incoming call

If you have kids with iPhones in the house, or share an Apple ID with someone in close proximity to your Wi-Fi network, you've undoubtedly already noticed the annoying "collective ringing" phenomenon. In short, your phone will ring if someone calls them, and theirs will ring if someone calls you, a less than ideal situation.

This "feature" has arrived with iOS 8 and Apple's Continuity undertaking that hands off calls to your iPad when your phone in the other room rings, for instance. This is undoubtedly handy if you want to pick up on your tablet, but if you have logged your kid, or another person in the house with your Apple ID, in order to keep an eye on impulse purchases, it could be a double-edged sword. Fret not, however, as there is an easy way to remedy the situation:

1. Go to your iPhone's Settings menu, and hit the FaceTime feature;
2. In the FaceTime list you will see an option titled "iPhone Cellular Calls," which is turned on by default;
3. Switch the slider to the "off" position, and do it on all other iDevices that are associated with your iTunes, iCloud and so on Apple ID accounts;
4. That's it, now incoming calls won't be ringing across your household, regardless of who they are meant for.

Idiot comment from #2. If you buy a product that you enjoy and fits your needs, that makes you a good consumer in my book. This being posted from my 2013 Nexus 7 tablet. And I the proud owner of a Moto X.

Well said bro, spend your money for you, and what suits you. Too many great products out there to not get what you want. Android suits you, iOS suits me, we both win.

Getting ripped of is what concerns us. Even knowingly ignoring the truth. Just a help in hand. Idiot comment from you, more like.

Define Ripped off. Then apply it to people who are buying a product that they enjoy. Also, Who is this "Us" you are talking about. Because "Us" As in the people who are interested in tech, do not speak for everybody buying smartphones, tablets, laptops. My 2 cents, The average housewife in Ohio, NC, NJ or whatever state does not care about anything that's posted on Phone Arena. They just like their Apple products and don't care about specs or value. So the "Us" needs to get over it.

Excellent post my man. As if he's really concerned about a soccer mom paying too much for her iPad. If so, log off and head to Cupertino to protest personally. Dudes just an internet attention w***e trolling PA.

Yes it does, I missed time due to a bad hammy pull, and a wisdom tooth extraction. Feels good to get back in there though. +1

Why even bother explaining? This imbecile will never get over his irrational hate for Apple long enough to understand that what you're saying actually makes sense. The rabid Android fanboys on this site make me embarrassed to be just a fan of the OS.

Isn't this a good thing. If you are away from the phone, more phones will be louder.

Yes, I mirror calls to my ipad when my daughter plays with on my phone... it's pretty nifty... but some may not like it, I guess

If you buy a overpriced product that you enjoy and fits your needs, that makes you an idiot.

No, complain about people simply spending their hard earned cash on what they want makes you an idiot. Why bust your ass, save your money to buy something you really want, and get what you don't want just to save a few $$$. That's plain stupid. I made the mistake of buying my then girlfreind/now wife a galaxy tab, just to save money on an iPad a few years ago. We no longer have the Galaxy, cuz that crap broke, and recently sold the iPad I ended up getting her, to get a mini 2

We won't make that mistake again. Now we buy what works best for her, and suits her needs/wants.

Sounds like you have some self-esteem issues Buddy? Think about it, the most valuable thing we have is time. You just wasted it hating on a guy who is living his life on his terms, doing things that he enjoys. Like buying and using his Apple products. Google self-esteem?

Jackass look who he's responding to, and if we count all of your accounts (12 and counting), how many posts would you have? Remember, you've been banned 11 times.

You guys should grow up and get over this discussion. iPhones and android devices are both amazing. I own both. They each have their pros and cons, but are wonderful to use. It's all a matter of taste. Go with what fits your wants and needs. You can't go wrong with either one. No need to argue and use foul language over this. They are only electronic devices. Get over it!!

if only !!! every Apple article is filled with Android fanboys posting the same crap again and again they aren't even original anymore !!! these things have been said over and over about Apple ! you guys need to get a life. seriously !!! why does it even matter , Apple's selling a bazillion devices all over the world , there should be some reason why even second hand iPads command a premium , it's simple. people like Apple products and don't mind paying for the user expereince you get with them, it's more than just specs !!!
