How to get free live tech support for Nexus and Google Play devices
If you live in the US (or other select countries), you can get free live tech support from Google when you encounter technical issues with your Nexus or Google Play Edition device. How so? Well, live support is offered via an app called Device Assist.
Released late last year by Google, the Device Assist app is free to download from Google Play. The application provides tips to owners of Nexus, Google Play edition, and Android One devices, while also being able to detect issues that may be plaguing your phone or tablet. Plus, as we already mentioned, the app provides access to live tech support, though this is available only for Nexus and Google Play edition devices*, and only in the following countries: United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and Japan.
To get free live tech support you first (obviously) need to download Device Assist - see the Google Play link at the end of this article. After you install and open the app, you'll be greeted with a welcome screen. From there, you can go straight to requesting live support by tapping on the phone icon that should be visible in the lower right corner of the screen. Once you do that, you'll be asked to agree with sending device information to Google. You can refuse, but, in this case, if you still need support, your Google Account will be associated with the request (which, of course, isn't a big deal). Next, a "Contact us" window will show up, allowing you to request a callback at any time.
* - since early 2015, Google Play edition devices are no longer being sold, but there are still plenty of users out there owning one.

After you provide some details, including your phone number, and a description of the issue for which you're asking support, someone from Google will call you back and try to solve your problem. Nice, huh?
