Asus ZenWatch 3 will receive Android Wear 2.0 on July 11th

Asus recently confirmed to Wareable.com that their latest smartwatch, the ZenWatch 3, will in fact receive Android Wear 2.0 on July 11th. News comes after some conflicting reports from Asus Germany and Asus USA lead us to believe there would be a delay from their stated, and already missed deadline at the end of Q2.

The ZenWatch 3 was released in December of 2016, only two short months before the release of Android Wear 2.0. Since then, the timetable for Android Wear updates has been less than satisfactory, with some of the most popular wearables left out completely from the update. New OS adoption rates for older devices has long been an issue for Android, and though Android O resolves, once again, to make the update process easier for manufacturers with Project Treble, no such feature has been introduced to Android Wear 2.0. Hopefully, Project Treble is successful enough to make its way to Android Wear 3.0.

As for the ZenWatch 3, we have only one full week until we can confirm if Asus has kept their word.
