Amazon's best Prime Day 2018
deals are yet to come, as the e-tailer will start the bonanza today at 3pm Eastern, but there is already enough evidence that the pricing during its 36-hour event will beat the Black Friday 2017 deals on average.
A dedicated deal site followed through with the last three Amazon Prime Day years and compared the discounts to the Black Friday ones before it. Well, it turned out that in 2017, no less than 76% of Amazon's Prime Day were better than those on Black Friday for the same products, while 5.8% tied up. Granted, last year was the largest Prime Day event ever, racking up billions in sales, but the 2016 numbers also reiterated the conclusion - 77% of the deals were better, with 13% ties.
The 2015 numbers were a bit more evened out - 64% were priced better by Amazon, while 9% were ties - but the trend may very well continue this year, given that Amazon Prime Day will last record 36 hours, instead of the 30 hours it went for last year.
