Verizon Galaxy Nexus Wall Charger

Has anyone used a wall charger other than stock and not killed the battery? I have a Blackberry Bold charger, a Kindle Fire (first gen) charger, an iPhone 4S charger, and a few others.

I believe the output of the Verizon unit is 5.0V = 1A, but I don't know what the input is. If it matches the Verizon unit exactly, I should be ok to use something different. Otherwise, I may try one of them that isn't the Blackberry unit, which seems to have killed my first battery.
