Beta 3 includes a screen orientation lock key

Apple has recently published the Beta 3 release of their new iPhone OS 4 to devs for a short while only, but it seems the time was just enough for skilled software engineers to find out some of the cool new features in it. Apparently, a new iPod set of controls will appear once you slide your finger to the left in the multitasking dock. Not only that, but they have also found a screen orientation lock key there, which will definitely come in handy. Alright, good job by Apple, now where's that new iPhone we've been looking at for quite some time?

I still like Android over Apple but this at least is a darn good step in the right direction.

Can't wait to have multitasking on my iPad...just to throw that out there :] but I currently like the controls of the iPod when not in the iPod app. So I hope they can have it as detailed as it is now.

Atleast he can afford it. If you have an iPhone you probably bought the cheap 8 gig 3G for $99....

"Atleast he can afford it" Typical Fanboi attitude " I'm better than you because I have one!" Congrats! You can suck your own d*ck! Thats amazing!

Really, it doesn't seem like a great deal of difference, excpet for the philosophies of those folks who take cell phones WAYYYY too seriously. Like many people, I think the Android OS is great. If only it sync'ed with a Mac like an ipod or iphone does I'd be all over it. Ah, a boy can dream...

I am waiting for my Milestone to arrive in september - but so far I've discovered this: http://www.salling.com/ and specifcally http://www.salling.com/MediaSync/windows/ basically as far as I understand - you can have your itunes - organize your stuff there - then sync it to this program - and then sync to the device..

Looking good. I wish Android would redo their music player.

You gotta give it to Apple. Even though they might take a long time (...sometimes REALLY long time) to address their customers concerns, they always do. Outside of the MMS issue I think Apple has had legitimate reasons for not offering certain things. I'm willing to bet that they held off on multi-tasking until they used a faster processor to handle it. That's my biggest complaint with the phone as it is now, it's just not as fast as I'd like. Sometimes pulling up messaging etc. takes an unbearably long time. Hopefully they'll slap the same or similar processor the iPad got and things will be rockin.

got to disagree with u hova apple don't listen to the customers they tell you what u need. had they listened to the customers then years ago they would have put in multi tasking, better batteries=removeable, better speakers, better graphic, and thus the reason the other phone makers are starting to get past apple like HTC. htc did listen to the customer

12. matistight posted on 06 May 2010, 21:53

if people are passing apple, why are they "iphone killers"? they have like 50 of those against 3 iphone models, soon to be 4...

13. clevername posted on 07 May 2010, 03:14

I agree. No one handset in the past 3 years to be labeled iphome killer has sold more than the 3G. Amd no one line has sold more than the iPhone line. Hate if u want but apple is king. And like hova said, they did listen. It just took a while. Replaceable batteries are "eh" at best anyways

who told u htc as gone past apple, where is ur proof and how many htc phones have had lines in front of the store even the ipad had long lines.

15. wade1968 posted on 09 May 2010, 20:02

iphone killer was and always will be what the media starts every story about a new phone when no company has come out and showed a new phone and the ceo go this is the iphone killer. so blame the media for the label iphone killer.

try sales figures t-mobile HTC HD2 they cant keep in stock and i said the other phone makers are going to start going ahead of apple i understand the fanboys i have friends with apple products but to be so blind as to not see what is coming in the future and how apple is going to slip and fall cause its the apple way or no way doesnt work for those people with their own free will's who haven't be brain washed by apple. and once again ill say this it it wasnt for jailbreak all you fanboys would be bitching about every thing ur iphone and ipad does not do.
