Gionee is the China-based handset manufacturer, whose flagship Elife devices are considered (and advertised) to be the world's thinnest smartphones. The Elife S5.5 was released in the beginning of this year and measured at the record-setting 0.22" (5.55 mm) thickness, and just months after that, the Elife S5.1 was announced, aiming to break the record with a 0.20" (5.15 mm) body.

Now, anyone outside of China, who wants to get their hands on the svelte handsets, may think it's mission impossible. But, it seems that's not the case – it's just that your handset will not bear the Gionee name.

A while ago, we told you about the Elife S5.5 being available in the US, under the name BLU Vivo IV. And now, another manufacturer has adopted a Gionee phone – the Elife S5.1 will be sold through UK-based manufacturer KAZAM, rebranded as the Tornado 348. Spec-wise, the phone is listed to feature – 4.8" AMOLED 720p display, 8 MP / 5 MP main and front-facing cameras, MediaTek MT6592 SoC, 2,050 mAh battery, running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. KAZAM also throws in its signature one year screen replacement guarantee – which guarantees customers one free screen repair within 12 months of purchase, should they damage their screen in any way.

The device will launch in the UK mid-November and will be priced at ~$400 (£249).
