Sprint & Walmart together in erecting WiMax towers?
With so many Walmart locations throughout the country, it’s very hard to not find one that’s close to your vicinity. With that in mind, Sprint is probably devising a plan in further expanding its nationwide rollout of their WiMax network. One new rumor floating right now is the fancying idea of having WiMax towers being built on top of all Walmart locations. There are a lot of winners with this move – Sprint won’t have to worry about paying tons of money to erect towers and zoning permission. As for the world’s largest retailer, they’d probably be compensated by Sprint for the space they would be renting out. Sprint has been advised to consider before going forward with the notion because of the amount of stores located near one another. This aggressive consideration would really place WiMax ahead of any LTE competition that’s expected to arrive soon. Finally, with WiMax capable handsets scheduled for release later this year, this would ultimately place Sprint in a good position to have everything prepared.

ummm actually sprint's current lineup of phones is very strong despite if you personally like or dislike them. Touch Pro 2, HTC Hero, Palm Pre & Pixi, Instinct HD, Samsung Moment, BB Tour and Curve II, and messaging phones to boot. not bad at all especially when comparing it to any other major carrier

Sounds good !!!...I sense some kind of Nexus One like phone coming Sprint's way by the end of 2010 or maybe next gen Pre.. all 4G capable. If Sprint pulls off something like that, they'll make a good mark in the market.

I hope they plan carefully, some area's could be over saturated with towers. Anyway, I'v been rooting for sprint for awhile now and know they will eventually come out on or near the top from the cesspool they were in just a few short years ago.

Where is 4G again, that's right, Sprint has it up, running and growing. vzw missed the 2 markets by the end of '09 so look for this year for news

Amen ! to that. I'm not saying Wimax would necessarly kick LTE's but but VZ fanboys needs to just shut it until Big red has some kind of 4G up and running.

funny thing about the hot words 3G and 4G and all that crap is this... i'm pretty sure Sprint had 3G all the way back in at least 2002 believe it or not. the #G denoted technology generation, NOT speed. and whats this?... Sprint dropped 4G ACTIVE in 2009?! regardless of what technology you use, Sprint has always been a pioneer in the data front. AT&T data cards? hahaha..... fail. Verizon's? not as fast. Tmobile? ummm.... 2.5G. as for the emerging LTE networks that are supposedly going to crush so hard... please wait till they get released untill you lay your coctail sausage on the table cause Sprint's 4G is up and running in cities all over the US right now and it's giving those users wood.
