Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact listed as "coming soon" in the US

Sony Mobile’s official US website now allows customers to pre-register for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact - Sony’s newest flagship smartphones. In addition, customers can also pre-register for the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. All three new devices are listed as “coming soon.”

While we already knew that the Xperia Z3 would be released by T-Mobile USA sometimes “this fall”, it looks like the handset will also be available unlocked, in all four color versions (white, black, green, and copper gold). The Z3 is thinner than the Xperia Z2, and comes with several improvements, including: a brighter 5.2-inch 1080p display, a faster Snapdragon 801 MSM-8974-AC processor, and a 20.7 MP rear camera with a new 25mm wide-angle Sony G Lens.

As for the Xperia Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact, we don’t know if any US mobile carrier will offer them. In any case, you’ll be able to buy them unlocked.

At the moment, Sony doesn’t provide details on the prices of its new Z3 devices for the US market. But we’ll likely hear more on this soon, so make sure to check back. Meanwhile, check out our Xperia Z3 hands-on, Xperia Z3 Compact hands-on, and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hands-on.

Looking forward to the Z3 Compact and hoping it'll make its way to Verizon as well. I got to see the Z1 Compact in a cell shop with grey market imports and was thoroughly impressed and the Z3 looks like it'll take care of the niggling issues I found with the Z1c.

I wish Verizon would get the Compact too, I've been looking for a phone to upgrade to and 2014's round of flagships are just too big for my hands. The Moto X 2014 was my last hope for a mid-sized flagship, but that fell through, and there haven't been any leaks for a successor to the Droid Mini.

Are you aware about the self cracking screen issue on the previous gens? that's the only thing that holds me back rom getting the Z3. I think this issue should be clearly point out.

No, I had a z2 and it was fabulous with zero issues. Ultimately I traded it because I have issues with keeping any phone for very long but was one of my favorites

Neat, I might pick one up to use as a portable display for my PS4.

(Nah, who am I kidding, the only use I'd get out of it would be if I wanted to play Destiny in bed or something...)

If you want a phablet go for note 4 but if you want speedy/snappy performance, awesome quality music, epic battery life, a great display and camera in a beautiful designed android smartphone Z3/Z3C is the best phone right now.

Actually audio quality from Sony is poor compared to other flaghships, their superior sound technology is just marketing bulls€it. HTC and Apple are best in this category and Samsung with its Exynos has third place.

Maybe your opinion will change after you listen to music on the Xperia Z2 using Digital Noise Cancelling Headset MDR-NC31EM.

In this video you will know what MF from Pocketnow opinion about xperia Z2 and MDR-NC31EM.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dKCgqeVdZ3w

And now the Z3 series also comes with
DSEE HX (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) is a technology that lets you upscale low-res songs to near High-Resolution sound quality. It refines and restores heavily compressed MP3 and AAC files, delivering powerful, full-range audio.

I can attest to the sound with ear buds being really good but the loud speaker was not up to snuff. The z1 was even worse. Let's hope sony gets the z3 right in this area

Yeah there is nothing special about the speakers, but it's still good enough for almost everything and better than one speaker on the back or the bottom side of the phone.
And the DNC headset can give you much better sounds experience than the stereo speakers on M8 or any other phones.
I think the Z3 speakers will not be on the same level with the M8, because the waterproof membrane will muffle the speakers.

Has Sony demoed DSEE HX yet?
Because what its claiming is physically impossible
Sony probably are just applying a equalizer to improve the sound

Has Sony demoed DSEE HX yet? Yes they have done it at IFA and couple years ago in their walkman if i'm not mistaken.

In Walkman DSEE HX works as advertised, but i don't if the Z3 series has the same quality as their walkman.

And i'm also have no idea how it works but i don't think it just some equalizer tricks.
Because you'll never get the same quality if you just applying a equalizer to improve the sound.

Sorry, but MF isn't any authority when it comes to audio. All Sony does are software tweaks that cannot equal hardware amplifiers on HTC M8 and iPhones. Just look at GSMArena and their tests. New Z3C performs even worse than z1C and HTC, Apple and Samsung Alpha smash every phone when it comes to audio.
Even on PA there are audio output tests and while M8 has 1.68 V and 5S 1V, Z2 has about 0.38 V or so.

Just like i said you need to try it first and you'll understand why MF said that the Z2 is better than M8 Harman & Kardon Edition.
I'm 99.9% sure you'll get more enjoyable experience when listening to music with Z2 + DNC headset than pretty much any phones on the market (if you using bundle headset that comes with the phone or genuine headset from the manufacturers)

The only way you can get better sounds quality is when you using premium headset/headphone from top manufacturers.
But the problem is the headset/headphone from top manufacturers Is much more expensive than Sony MDR-NC31EM.
And if you using Noise cancelling headset you'll need to make sure that there is enough battery on the headset so you can enjoy the DNC features.

"Alpha smash every phone when it comes to audio." Are you living in samsung dreamland where samsung is the king of audio?
According to GsmArena when it comes to audio the Alpha is no match for HTC One mini 2.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_alpha_vs_one_mini_2-review-1137p8.php

With the Z2 and Z3 series you don't need to buy expensive headset/headphones from top manufacturers to get high quality sounds experiences.
And in case you don't know GsmArena is using premium AKG headphones when they test the output with headphones attached to the phone to even up the field.

They are BOTH beautiful designed. The Note 4 has GREAT battery life also. The better display is on the Note 4 1440p vs 1080p. They are both snappy. The Sony has stereo speakers but the Note 4 has the added functionally of the S-Pen. Also the Sony dust & water proof. Both cameras are insane but the Note 4 I think has the better unit cause of ISOCELL & OIS! The Sony camera lacks those important features.

So those are the major differences. One is 5.2 inches, the other is 5.7 inches... So you really need to hold them both in your hand. That's the best way to make a choice.

hboy857 was being a bit too biased there!

Talking for biased opinion of others and making suggestions in attempt to sound like facts isn't right. ;) We just don't know how good battery life in Note 4 is for now. I'm almost sure that QHD didn't make a favor of the Samsung phablet compared to Z3, but we should wait and see.
Also Z3 could use any pen or pensil such as S-pen, just like Z2 already does that.
Some early video comparisons showed that OIS in G3 is no better than digital one in Z2, actually it was worse so another fact that isn't actually fact.
I am almost sure that Note4 will produce better images than Z3 but not because of Isosell or IOS but because of better post-processing software.
My point is that your post is also biased but you just don't realised that. ;)

The z3 was great on the demo they had at work. The sides are much nicer to hold, being smaller than the z1s while having a bigger screen too.

The screen though same 1080p was also more vibrant something the sony worker was excited about.

well this is quite easy. No release for the major carriers...epic fail. They announced 4 times the losses that were prog-nosed. Remember betamax? No licensing, no future. Thought they would learn by now. I believe many people would choose Sony over Samsung. I came from Apple and i wanted to go with premium, but best was the galaxy s3 and then bough galaxy s4. Sony seems like the best blend of quality and performance. so why not release to the major 4? Perhaps getting greedy and not wanting to lose on some of the "profits?"
