Big Red cooking up a new My Verizon page
Looks like Verizon is currently working on a new My Verizon webpage for its customers that should be available soon. The list of new and enhanced features is quite long and includes better contact management, as well as detailed usage tracking – you’ll be able to easily check your current usage of minutes, text and data. Parents will also be able to set parental controls on their kids’ accounts, limiting their usage to a certain level.

The new My Verizon portal will also let you buy stuff like ringtones, wallpapers and apps, as well as check and purchase new music. Other interesting functionality Big Red has managed to pack in the new site includes some account and plan management tools, thanks to which you can activate a new phone, or pause/resume an already existing plan.

Seems like a pretty decent upgrade is on the way, but what is your opinion here? Are you satisfied by the list of enhancements or there’s something else that you’d like to see included in the new My Verizon portal?

I didn't see anything listed in this article that I haven't been able to do for years on my Verizon page. Are web page redesigns what we're paying for with mandatory data plans for non smartphones?

The only thing I see that'd be "new" is the meters for data consumption. Right now I can't even get a count on how much data I'm using by dialing #DATA. So if this will show for real, it'll be a step up.

They have to recover that super subsidy and promotion of said device, don't forget the network. Be happy you have all those cool phones to choose from, oh yeah that extra fee funds F&F too

What does that have to do with a website redesign? If anything people will be able to tweak their plans more to save more money. I doubt the ability to buy ringtones, etc will create that much more additional revenue. The only thing would be since people can materially change their plans a lot easier, those that still have older cheaper items like the $15 VCAST VPAK could end up forfeitting that grandfathering by changing something on their plan.

I've had the heads-up at work about this, the site will be re-designed to be more user friendly and the company as a whole is driving customers to be more "self serve" friendly, as they will be able to do a few more things than they previously could online. They did the same thing with altering the payment system months ago. The real story which is on the back end, as it was with the payments. When the company wants to be "self serve friendly", they push something on the reps and customers for a month, then take away the ability of the rep to do said task to force the customer to be "self serve friendly". In a few months, CS reps will no longer be able to do 1)ESN Changes, 2) Address Changes, 3) Set up account managers/authorized users, and finally 4) Suspend or Reconnect lines. CS reps already can no longer take payments as they want people to do this themselves. This will create a shit-storm of older customers and less than mentally capable (some people from the south) that can't do things through an IVR and don't have a computer. All around a poor decision by the company IMO.

first off.. a big big change here for is for smarthphone users. there are a lot of people who change from a regular phone to a smart phone that cant save their contacts. if this is going to allow you to save your contacts on the website with any type of phone that is awesome! it will also keep the lines short at the store for people who really are too lazy to type them in themselves. also the current layout is terrible its impossible to find or do anything on the page with relative ease. I for one am very excited to have this hopefully the rest of the website will get a makover!!!

And this is different how? Everything you will be able to do, you can already do...the only thing that is "different", is the way it looks.
