Barack Obama says Steve Jobs is a symbol of the American Dream
"And something that's always been the greatest strength of America is a thriving, booming middle class, where everybody has got a shot at the American dream. And that should be our goal. That should be what we're focused on. How are we creating opportunity for everybody? So that we celebrate wealth. We celebrate somebody like a Steve Jobs, who has created two or three different revolutionary products. We expect that person to be rich, and that's a good thing. We want that incentive. That's part of the free market."
Just to remind you that recently Steve Jobs was declared "CEO of the decade" by MarketWatch and likened to Edison and Bell. What's your opinion, though - do you see Jobs as a role model to follow or the American president's words are "a little bit meh", as some people like to say.

"Expect to be Rich" what is that suppose to mean.lol Obama sees Jobs as more tax dollars he can take. I bet if we ask Obama what one of theses products are he could not name it without the help of his aids.lol
2. Ryry oh yea (unregistered)
You really think that the President of the United States doesn't know what an iPhone or iPad is? Yea right...and Obama is just promoting a prosperous middle class which doesn't sound too bad to me so you should probably think before you insult our president LOL!
5. DontHateOnS60 (Posts: 864; Member since: 20 Apr 2009)
You're an idiot. If you had any common sense at all you would know that his comment "I bet if we ask Obama what one of theses products are he could not name it without the help of his aids" is referring to the fact that he needs a teleprompter to do anything. And here we go again with this "middle class" garbage. What about the lower class? What about the people who can actually create jobs? Open your mind up. It's not about one class succeeding. It's about everyone being able to succeed.
15. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
Like you said, the guy cant hardly do anything without a teleprompter.
He has effectively made the most powerful nation "look a' fool" to the world.
He freakin high jacked our economy and quadrupled our deficit! And he didn't even start any new wars! I mean WTF!!! (not that I want any new wars).
25. brikz4real (Posts: 173; Member since: 24 Dec 2008)
Ya know, this is a "phone" web site..but if you must throw in political rhetoric dear "right wing" posters ... consider all the dumb shit Bush said WITH or WITHOUT a teleprompter. And now, back to phone discussions.
30. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
I never even said I was a bush supporter. You just assume obama haters are "right wing bush lovers" because you are just that narrow minded.
Politics effect the wireless world. Ever heard of the FCC???
48. brikz4real (Posts: 173; Member since: 24 Dec 2008)
Ya know smp, if you ain't with one party, you're with the other...unless you're one of those duchebags who'd rather complain about everything under the sun. The president gave kudos to a man for living the American dream and you post BS pertaining to the economy...a economy that was already in turmoil when he took office. And yes, I heard of the FCC. But I guess you will blame Obama for THAT too, especially when you're phone can't access porn sites due to FCC regulations...RETARD. Now, if you are finished posting, you may return to your parent's basement and finish caressing yourself with your phone.
54. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
You made a comment that this is a "phone website". I commented back saying that politics effects the cellular world. In fact the FCC directly effects what we can and can't do with our phones.
And brikz, our economy was having some serious issues before Obama. But seriously, look at the numbers. Bush left with approx 400,000,000,000 in debt. Obama came in and now it is 1,800,000,000,000 (and that was in less than a year after taking office). Which is over 4 times as high as Bush took it.
I am not posting BS. What I said about the economy is true. It was bad, but now its horrid. If you want to go look up those numbers, be my guest. They are on the internet for everyone to see.
I dont watch porn on my phone. So I personally dont mind if they take that away. But if you want to blame Obama for ruining your bathroom breaks at work, be my guest. And you would actually be able to blame him because I believe he has nominated 2 out of the 5 people in that administration.
Now, why dont you argue the actual points instead of using a straw man argument.... before I move on, you will probably need to go Google what a "straw man argument" is.
Now go ahead and TRY to argue the points. I know it can be difficult. But give it a shot. Go back and read this again if you need to. :)

26. apocalypsebc (Posts: 148; Member since: 07 Dec 2010)
I agree with you Ryry. even if he didnt know what one was, it's not wrong to ask for help and help one another. Some people just like to complain and act ignorant. What do you think of the ex. president bush...

Fuck u OneBigAssMistakeAmerica. Then u just go and over tax the guy for being rich. But Jobs deserves it, he is part of the tree hunging terriorist. But i love my iphone made by the slaves of china :)

People kill me. The President of the United States only praised Steve Jobs for making great products and that the sales of those products are great for the American economy. Everybody must pay taxes. But I dont think its right for Steve Jobs's secretary to be in a higher tax bracket than Steve Jobs himself. Taxes are meant to sustain our government. Other Senators and representatives from each party support taxes. The only difference is that each party wishes to tax one segment of the population more or less.
P.S. President Barack Obama is the President of the United States and deserves to be labeled and respected as such.
10. JeffdaBeat (unregistered)
So other than writing words on a message board, what are you really doing to change things? Are you writing letters and calling your congress person. Are you gathering a group of people who feel exactly like you do... or are you just complaining from your computer chair?
13. hawk62 (Posts: 320; Member since: 21 Nov 2009)
How the hell does the iphone help the US? I have one but come on, it is build in asia!
How is his secretay in a higher bracket?
Taxes keep the gov't running, Running ie over spending, wasting, throwing money away.
He does NOT deserve any respect. NONE! and history will show him as one of the worst our country has had.
21. remixfa (Posts: 14253; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
the iphone only helps the US by sales tax, all the manufacturing goes on in china. but hey, we keep voting idiot liberals that want to keep raising corperate taxes. we are the 2nd highest corperate tax rate in the world. if you could save a billion a year in pure profit by moving your headquarters, wouldnt u? Want to change that? Vote for someone that wants to LOWER taxes, not raise them. The more jobs that come TO america the more taxes that get paid over all.
Steve Jobs is a liberal control freak. He is a dictator that controls every fascit of his little world. Thats why obama loves him, he wants that kind of power over the rest of the US.
His secretary probably does pay a higher tax than he does. the TRUELY rich get paid off dividends and stocks which is taxed at a mere 15%. Only small business owners (S corps) and a very very small amount of people make 250k a year to be taxed at the highest rates. So next time you vote to "tax the rich" (who pay like 75% of all the taxes already), u are really voting for higher corperate taxes because of the sheer amount of S corps... which raises prices ON YOU, and sends more jobs OVER SEAS.
Politicians know that, and they know you DONT. You really think they would be voting to raise THEIR taxes? You think all these big billionaires like Gates, Jobs, and Oprah are really voting to have THEIR taxes raised when they try to convince u to vote Democrat??? if so you really are an idiot.

9. Tre-Nitty (Posts: 462; Member since: 16 Nov 2010)
I have the utmost respect for Steve Jobs and especially our president.
16. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
Why would you have respect for a man who promotes demand side economics???
31. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
Anyone gonna argue my point or are you just gonna vote it down because its an anti-obama comment???
Just try to argue that demand side economics is a good thing! Just freaking try and see what happens! I doubt those of you that have voted me down dont even know what that means and you had to google it.
60. DontHateOnS60 (Posts: 864; Member since: 20 Apr 2009)
So you must have had the utmost respect for George W. Bush then as well when he was our president. Glad to hear that.
11. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
I agree with Obama. We need more entrepreneurs like Jobs. Apple's business infrastructure is simply impressive and well balanced, and it benefits everyone's interests. I know that android and symbian fanboys would totally disagree, but if you fanboys haven't noticed, htc, samsung, motorola, and even the almight nokia, are all following Apple's way of business. Now that says more than what you hateful fanboys have to say :)
12. btbotimtim (Posts: 153; Member since: 08 Dec 2010)
Mr.President, you are the biggest disappointment.
14. Tre-Nitty (Posts: 462; Member since: 16 Nov 2010)
hey btbotimtim how many gay military active duty are there? You dont know, so why not just allow them to serve. Btw, that same gay person is fighting for you to be able to read and post to phonearena freely. Show some respect because I guarantee you don't have the heart to go and stand on the frontlines of afghanastan.
To hawk62, was it Obama that ran this country to shit? Support the president because he was given a piece of crap situation to fix and he's doing his best. Lemme guess, you want Palin right? Give me a break!
17. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
Tre-Nitty, you fail!
Obama has the lowest approval rating and all he did was make a bad situation worse.
The problem is that demand side economics dont work and they ESPECIALLY dont work during a recession.
The thing everyone needs to realize is that no economy is recession proof. There are ups and downs in economies. Its like a rollercoaster.
If Obama was trying to save our economy he would be tightening the spending, but instead he went out with his congress and spent more than any president in history.
Tell me Tre-Nitty... when you run out of money, do you go take a giant loan to help "stimulate" your budget. NO! You freaking stop spending so much money and go without some of your luxuries! Why? Because you realize that borrowing and spending more money doesnt fix the problem, its only a temorary fix. In the end you just bankrupt yourself. Which is exactly what Obama has done to our entire nation.
But dont quite your day job Tre-Nitty (if you have one), all those people on welfare are depending on your tax dollars.
28. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
Wow, why don't you run for president then. You seem to think that you know better than Obama. Let me guess what your response would be. You'd say, "I wouldn't win because American voters are dumb.", right? I thought so :)
People like you are the ones that make the situation worse than it already is. Instead of doing something to help, you're the type who would rather point fingers, blame other people, and would actually hope for the situation to get even worse, just so you can say in the end, "I told you so." . People like you are despicable.
32. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
Maybe you should ask a question and give me a chance to answer before you assume what my answer is.
I actually plan on getting involved in politics and my primary goal is to become president. I dont expect to lose. i expect to win. I personally dont believe American Voters are dumb. I believe the majority of them are very intelligent.
I have personally helped in campaigns, I have made phone calls, I have pounded the pavement, I ran projects, I have been involved in political groups, I have written papers about my political beliefs and I even almost ran for a local office this year.
I am only 22 years old.
Now, I will ask you. What have you done to make a difference instead of typing about how much you despise people like me?
No assumption attached.
43. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
Oh... whats that??? You dont have a comeback? Thats what I thought.
49. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
You believe that the majority of American voters are intelligent, yet you think that American voters made the wrong choice in voting for Obama? Hmmm. Talk to us when you actually win as President. Don't brag in here about your ambitions that are unlikely to happen.
Also, anyone in here can say that they have personally helped in campaigns, blah, blah, blah. I helped develop android os and also helped with the development of ios, and I am one of Bill Gate's close friends :) And I'm only 21 :) What else?
Don't ask me what difference I have made in a forum where anyone can make up any stories. That's quite a silly thing to ask. Just go for it and just do it.
58. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
530 you really should think before you speak.
Being intelligent doesn't mean you will always agree with everything I personally have to say. I have plenty of VERY intelligent friends that disagree with me all the time. Some of these very intelligent friends also voted for Obama. And even still, some of them believe he is doing a really good job.
I never bragged about becoming president. I only said that it was a goal of mine. Goals are very important in life. Having ambitions is what drives a person to actually DO something. Its sad that I even have to explain that.
Its funny that you can't comeback with actual facts. It is also interesting that instead of trying to show how you have helped, you try to discredit me by saying I am making these things up. Why dont you come back when you are ready for an adult level debate, because clearly you are not.
Stop attacking character and start shooting me some facts. If you need to use google to look a bunch up, go ahead, I wont blame you this time around.
63. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
I do think before I speak, unlike you who just brag about things like running for president.
Intelligent or not, you need to show respect to whoever is in position. I didn't even vote for Obama, but I will respect the majorities votes. He is still the President of my country.
Yes, goals are indeed important in life. Share it with your friends on facebook, or to those who care to know. Not here on Phone Arena.
There is an appropriate place for boasting or sharing your community service. This article is not about you mister, or whatever you've done in your community. What now? You want us to give you a certificate of appreciation or recognition? Geez louise.
65. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
Debating with you is like debating with a 5 year old.
I stated a few small things I have done and my plans for the future. I never bragged. You are simply confused. So on your next post I would like to see if you can argue about the actual point.
And the actual point is that Obama is a bad president.
And again, I dont respect people because of their title. You talked crap about Bush, but he still carries the title of president. So you are a hypocrite by your own standard.
And lastly, you shouldnt even be talking if you didnt even vote.

i prefer the dream act than the repeal of DADT.
i may not have the heart to go and stand on the frontline but young illegal kids may do so.
mr.president is making the situation worse than before.
he has wasted 2 years and he will till 2012.

sorry smpdx I have a career not a day job. As I stated, was it Obama who ran this country into the dumps? If Obama has the lowest approval rating, then Bush must not have been rated. Remember 9/11 happened under his watch! I'll take my chances with Obama. I support him just like I supported every president i've lived under, no matter how crappy a job they did!
23. remixfa (Posts: 14253; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
hey tre nitty, u do realize that bush has carried a higher aproval rating than obama almost the entire time (exept for right after the election). 9/11 happened because bill clinton was given osama bin laden 3 seperate times on a platter and refused to have him extradited to prosecute him for the bombing of the USS Cole and US embasies, because he was too busy bombing asprin factories in iraq to get the news to stop covering the monica lewinsky affair. if you think that Bush knowingly let 9/11 happen for some sort of oil conspiracy your a total moron.
BTW, the economy took a crap after 2006. after liberals took power of the house n senate. Bush gets the blame for signing bad bills for sure, but it was Pelosi, Reid, and Dodd that wrote the housing bill and TARP that brought the economy to its knees. Obama has quadrupled the national deficit in 2 years. A deficit that took over 200 years to get to the level he took it over at.
"Hey we got no job and were out of money, what should we do? Lets charge up 4x more than we have aready on the credit card! That will help us get jobs!!" --- Obama/Pelosi thinking. "
No, you cut government spending, government programs, cut taxes to spurr growth and development and DONT bail out companies with borrowed money from china with high interest rates. No company is too big to fail. And no company has a right to tax dollars as income.
34. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
He has the lowest approval rating to date.
God tre-nitty, you really need to open your freakin eyes.
Even Obamas own party is starting to break ranks. And he barely finished up his first two years. At this time during bushes term, he was WAY up on the approval rating. Obama is currently negative.
Tre-nitty, you are a fool if you support a president just because of his title.:Like I said before. I dont respect presidents that believe in demand side economics. Not including the fact that he also believes in MANY other things I disagree with, but that for me is very important.
35. smpdx (Posts: 127; Member since: 02 Nov 2010)
to date as in "the current point in his term". Sorry, its 3am and I am sooooo very tired of people. Not just you though tre-nitty. You are worth getting worried over.
And actually yes,,, it was Obama who ran this country into the dumps. Who is president right now??? And how is our country doing right now???
20. MikeG77 (Posts: 375; Member since: 24 Nov 2008)
LOL you people make me laugh so much! You all dont realize it but Obama and Bush are 2 pieces cut from the same cloth but hey keep believing what the news tells you.
22. remixfa (Posts: 14253; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
bush and obama are both symptoms and the conciquence of idiots of america voting. people no longer pay attention to what is actually going on and prefer headlines and slogans to actual knowledge. If people actually paid attention bush, obama, pelosi, reid, mccain, clinton(s), and many more would have ever gotten elected. 80% of people that voted for obama had no idea who he was or what his actual stances on anything were. heck, even howard stern (a staunch liberal) was making fun of people for how little they knew but were going to vote obama.. just because.
29. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
I wish people like you would just learn to shut the hell up. The public does not really know the truth about what's happening in the government unless you actually were on top of it first hand. There are so many stories, speculations, theories, etc on how things happen in government affairs. Who's behind the assasination of Kennedy? Did Marilyn Monro really commit suicide? Who's behind the 9/11 tragedy? What's the real reason why we went into war? There are many, many different stories that are believed to be true regarding these major events in American history. Take a pick. As far as I know, most of them aren't really true. There's always more than meets the eye when it comes to government affairs. I say, as a citizen, just be a good one. Respect whoever the leader is, and give him or her a chance to do their work. Do your part as a citizen by supporting their platforms to try to make it work so we can all move forward and get out of this ugly economic crisis. That is where prayer and faith becomes an integral part of our nation. That He will continue to bless the US and give our leaders the wisdom to rule.

Why else would you capatalize "He" when talking about prayer, faith, and blessings???

People like me? Lol who is that.. An informed and involved voter? Shameful, I know. What does your religious rant have to do with my post? Some of us are conservative yet not religious. Your answer can be broken down to "i close my eyes to reality and pray to an invisible being to fix it because I don't want to make the effort myself."
Conspiracy theorists make me laugh. You can't tell the difference between hollywood and reality.
52. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
It doesn't matter whether your are an informed and involved voter or not. You have to respect whoever the majority voted as President. The US is a Christian nation, although you do not have to be one. Just because you do not see God, it does not mean He does not exist. You do not see the air either, yet you know that you breathe it.

Obama is the antichrist and Steve Jobs is a close second.
41. calamazoo (unregistered)
Obama actually turned out a pretty average guy, to my surprise. I voted for him, but he is a man of compromise, not the type of guy that would pound on the table and demand a profound change. He got played by the likes of Larry Summers, Dodd, etc., I'm not even bringing the Fed into that equation, they are accountable to noone.
To be honest, US never intends to repay that debt, that's clear. Bernanke is exporting inflation to China, and the bubble there will burst pretty soon. We'll just whine and beg, and threaten, and get out of it in a decade or so. Honestly, the machine was in motion long before he took office, McCain/Palin would have gone Keynesian as well (without the health care reform), since that's the only way big finance could survive, and they hedge their bets giving money to each candidate.
What Obama DID, though, and everyone seems to be forgetting that, is that he is a BLACK guy who became PRESIDENT of the USA. That feat alone was worth his term, the economy would have been in the doldrums with everyone else at the helm, too, except maybe Ron Paul, who I admire, but is not TV-likeable enough, and too old to be a president.
So, yeah, he fulfilled the American Dream, and is giving credit where credit is due. Steve Jobs was down and out for a long time, but came back to prove that if you listen closely to what people actually want - a hint of harmony, symbiosis between form and function, they will reward you with taking your company up to the second largest in stock valuation, solely based on faith and trust you will deliver.
Merry Christman, Phoneareners :-)
PS I got a Galaxy Tab for Xmas, but honestly it's way overhyped that it offers more than the iPad - good that I'm a geek, hehe
