Siri 2.0 could be 17 days away and a surprise iOS update is coming soon
The iOS 27 beta, which could feature Siri 2.0, is expected to be released on June 8.

Every time I let you know when a beta version of iOS was coming that was supposed to include Siri 2.0, it turned out that the new updated Siri was delayed again. It is time to do this again with WWDC 2026 rapidly approaching.
Why many iPhone users are eagerly awaiting WWDC next month
What makes this a big deal is that Apple traditionally releases the first beta for the upcoming new iOS version immediately following the keynote. The hope is that iOS 27 beta 1 will include Siri 2.0 featuring Personal Siri. This will allow Siri to go through various Apple apps including:
- Photos
- Messages
- Safari
- Notes
- Contacts
- Calendar
- Reminders
- Maps
- Wallet

When will you install iOS 27 on your iPhone?
In iOS 27, Siri is expected to become a real chatbot using the custom 1.2 trillion parameter Gemini model. Apple is reportedly paying Google $1 billion annually for this model. With this model, it will feel as though Siri received a brain transplant to become the smartest person in the room.

If all goes well, iPhone users signed up for the iOS beta program will be getting Siri 2.0 with iOS 27 beta 1 next month. However, they must be using a phone that supports Apple Intelligence. That includes these models:
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17
- iPhone 17 Plus
- iPhone 17e
- iPhone Air
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 Pro
If you do plan to install the iOS 27 beta on your iPhone next month, you need to understand that beta versions of software are unstable. Make sure your phone is backed up before installing the beta and be aware that some features you rely on might not work with the beta installed.
While everyone is excited about the possibility that Siri 2.0 could be just two and a half weeks away, 9to5Mac has noticed in its visitor logs that Apple is testing iOS 26.5.1. That Apple is looking to release a stable version of iOS before it drops the initial iOS 27 beta during WWDC 2026 would seem to indicate that there is a serious reason for this incremental update to be released.
There is an indication that Apple will soon release iOS 26.5.1
My suspicion is that Apple needs to disseminate a patch to fix a software flaw that is being exploited making this a security issue. Another possibility is that Apple needed to fix a long-running bug and wants to repair it before WWDC. Apple usually uses a "point.point" update like iOS 26.5.1 to exterminate a bug or patch a security flaw.
With a three-day weekend in the U.S. upon us, it is unlikely that Apple will release iOS 26.5.1 on Monday. But any other day next week, or even the week after, could be the day that iOS 26.5.1 is released.
Why the odds favor Siri 2.0 appearing in the iOS 27 beta on June 8
At the beginning of this article, we pointed out how Apple had fooled us before by not releasing Siri 2.0 when it previously hinted that it would. The last time this occurred was with the release of the iOS 26.5 beta, which failed to include any changes to Siri. That followed the release of the iOS 26.4 beta, another update that we hoped would include Siri 2.0, but didn't.
With Apple using what appears to be the new Siri 2.0 interface for the WWDC 2026 invitation logo, the chances are pretty good that Siri shows up in the iOS 27 beta on June 8.
