I foresee an exodus of T-Mobile users to other carriers

With how T-Mobile is pushing its T-Life app, the un-carrier's user base has all but promised to switch.

T-Mobile is not going to back down from enforcing the use of its T-Life app across all operations, so its user base has decided to take a stand as well. This unpopular move by the un-carrier is going to cost it valuable subscribers, you’ve practically promised it.

T-Mobile users vow to switch carriers

As less and less T-Mobile staff remain behind to hold the fort, we asked you what your course of action would be when the carrier inevitably goes all in on T-Life. It is, after all, only a matter of time before T-Mobile representatives become as rare as unicorns.

Unsurprisingly, almost half of you said that you would switch to another carrier or MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) when this happens. This might represent a major portion of T-Mobile’s current user base that will leave for a rival network.

Some are okay with T-Life, others hate it

Almost 29 percent of respondents, on the other hand, said that they were fine with having to use the T-Life app. Though there are numerous complaints about the app, some of you think that it works fine, and you’re okay with having to use it to stick with T-Mobile.

Lastly, around 22 percent of you said that you are still refusing to use the app at all and will continue to do so. Unfortunately, as the use of the T-Life app becomes non-negotiable over the coming months, these 22 percent of users might join the 50 percent of customers who are threatening to leave.

An inevitability at this point

The switch to the T-Life app has been a lengthy operation for T-Mobile, and the carrier has no plans of slowing down or reversing its decision. There will definitely come a time when, outside of special cases, all T-Mobile operations will be carried out via the T-Life app and physical stores — as well as the people who run them — will become a very rare sight.

A genius move or a monumental disaster

Switching everything to the T-Life app is either going to reward T-Mobile with a lot of cost savings or it’s going to drive away a very large chunk of its user base. If the latter comes to pass, then this will go down as one of the reasons that T-Mobile lost its enviable status among the three major American carriers.
