But that's where retailers like Amazon and Walmart come in, reducing that undeniably excessive list price surprisingly frequently and deeply already. Yes, the AirPods Max 2 amazingly went down to as little as $399 just around three months after their commercial debut, and while the latest promotion doesn't allow you to save quite as much money today, you also don't need to be a Prime member to qualify for the new $120 discount.
That's right, Amazon is now slashing a cool 120 bucks off the AirPods Max 2's $549 retail price in no less than four color options with no special requirements and no strings attached, beating its previous offers by $20.
Technically, the deal doesn't have an expiration date, but something tells me it will go away sooner rather than later, especially with the blue model already listed as out of stock. In other words, you might want to hurry and pull the trigger here, particularly if you happen to like one of the Midnight, Orange, Starlight, or Purple hues more than the others.

At $120 off list, the second-gen AirPods Max are... still costlier than Bose and Sony's latest over-ear flagships, but not by much. And with the three products more or less praised by reviewers and everyday users for their active noise cancellation skills, overall audio performance, connectivity, all-day comfort, and battery life to a similar degree, Apple's brand recognition and status symbol are likely to tip the balance for many iPhone owners.
Unless, of course, you prefer true wireless earbuds and are actually excited by the prospect of a first-of-a-kind AirPods edition with built-in cameras, in which case you might want to wait until September for Apple's next big product announcements.
