Pixel 10a battery and charging: Everything you need to know

Battery life may still be the Pixel a’s biggest win, even with the lack of any meaningful upgrades.

After months of rather scarce leaks and rumors, it seems Google's ready to announce its next budget phone, the Pixel 10a.

Last year, the company made an earlier announcement than usual, revealing the Pixel 9a in March instead of May, like the two generations before that. But it seems the Pixel 10a will launch even earlier, expected to debut as soon as February.

Just like its predecessor, the Pixel 10a is expected to have great battery life paired with somewhat slow charging speeds for modern standards. It seems like Google is content to refine what already worked well on the Pixel 9a.

Will the Pixel 10a have better battery life?

Probably not.

According to certification listings and multiple leaks, the Pixel 10a is expected to come with the same 5,100 mAh battery as the Pixel 9a.

The Pixel 9a already delivered some of the best battery life we have seen on a Pixel phone, thanks to its large battery and power-efficient Tensor G4 chipset. If the Pixel 10a really sticsk with the same setup, which appears to be the case, there's no reason to believe battery life will be different.

Of course, we could still see some negligible improvements from software optimizations in newer Android versions, as well as minor efficiency improvements if Google tweaks the Tensor chip or the thermal design. That said, there are no signs of any major changes.

How much battery will the Pixel 10a have?

Leaks from carrier certification databases point to a 5,100 mAh battery, matching last year’s model.

For a midrange phone with a roughly 6.3-inch display, this remains a generous capacity and is still larger than what many similarly sized competitors offer. It also reinforces Google’s strategy of prioritizing battery life on its A-series phones, even when other specs stay largely unchanged.

Will the Pixel 10a have wireless charging?

Yes, but it will most likely remain just as modest as in the last three generations.

The Pixel 10a is expected to support 7.5W wireless charging. This is well below what flagship phones offer and even behind some midrange rivals from Motorola and OnePlus.

Will the Pixel 10a have magnetic wireless charging?

This is still unclear.

Some leaks suggest the Pixel 10a could adopt Pixel Snap, Google’s magnetic accessory system introduced with the Pixel 10 series in 2025. The slightly thicker body hinted at in CAD renders could potentially mean the 10a will also get Pixel Snap, but there is no solid evidence yet.

Still, if Pixel Snap does make it to the 10a, it would likely be for the accessories that support it rather than faster wireless charging.

Will the Pixel 10a have reverse wireless charging?

There is no solid evidence that it will.

Previous A-series Pixels have not supported reverse wireless charging, and nothing in current leaks suggests this will change with the Pixel 10a. For now, it is safest to assume this feature will remain exclusive to higher-end Pixel models.

What charger will the Pixel 10a use?

The Pixel 10a is expected to support USB Power Delivery over USB-C, just like previous Pixels.

Any quality PD charger will work, but charging speeds will not exceed Google’s modest limit.

How fast will the Pixel 10a charge?

Based on the unchanged charging specs, charging times are expected to be very similar to the Pixel 9a. That means we can expect around a 50% charge in roughly 30 minutes with a compatible wired charger, while a full charge will likely take a little over 90 minutes.

Wireless charging will be significantly slower, suitable mainly for overnight or desk use.

While it won't charge super fast, the wired charging speeds are acceptable. Plus, if the battery life is at least as good as on the Pixel 9a, users shouldn't need to recharge too often.
