The Moto Buds 2 Plus are available in the US, and a 'Brilliant' new Motorola Signature is official

How can you not get excited about a $150 pair of super-premium earbuds and a stunning Swarovski crystal-decorated phone?

You probably didn't expect that based on a relatively subdued marketing campaign leading up to yesterday's Razr (2026) family announcement, but Motorola essentially had a "Samsung Unpacked" type of moment, taking the wraps off not only its latest and greatest flip phones but quite possibly the company's best mid-range handset to date and an insanely attractive new version of the Signature flagship as well.

The ultra-high-end Motorola Signature is also joined by a special edition of the Moto Buds 2 Plus in the "Brilliant Collection" program, and on top of everything else, the brand's greatest-ever wireless earbuds are now up for grabs stateside (in a "normal" version) at a very reasonable price.

Motorola's top AirPods Pro 3 alternative is about as affordable as it could have been

If you remember last month's global Moto Buds 2 and Buds 2 Plus announcement (which I obviously covered for PhoneArena), you might also recall that my realistic expectation for the US price point of the more premium of those two products was $180, and my optimistic prediction was $150.

As it turns out, my caution was uncalled for, as Motorola is officially selling the noise-cancelling Moto Buds 2 Plus with state-of-the-art Bose sound technology at exactly $149.99 through the company's US website.

That's a whopping $100 over the regular regional prices of both the AirPods Pro 3 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, and while a nice discount on Apple and Samsung's newest super-premium earbuds is pretty easy to come by nowadays, I haven't seen a single deal from a trusted retailer to save you anywhere close to a Benjamin.

Of course, the Moto Buds 2 Plus lack innovative features like built-in heart rate monitoring or AI-powered live translations, but their 9-hour battery life (or 40 hours with the bundled charging case factored in), six-microphone system promising crystal clear calls, and powerful 11mm dynamic drivers make this value equation extremely hard to beat even in today's ultra-crowded and super-competitive wireless audio landscape.

The Signature and Moto Buds 2 Plus get Swarovski crystals and an impending release

Do the Pantone Silhouette-colored Moto Buds 2 Plus look a little boring to you? Then you might want to wait a few more weeks for a "Brilliant" edition with 12 Swarovski crystals encrusted on each earbud and an undeniably more eye-catching Pantone Violet Indigo paint job.

Would you ever consider a special edition phone or earbuds with Swarovski crystals?

Unfortunately, there are no words on the potential US availability of this gorgeous new Moto Buds 2 Plus model, and the same goes for a matching Motorola Signature version with 20 "hand-placed amethyst Swarovski Crystals twinkling like bright stars and shifting with each movement."

For the time being, both of these glamorous products are set for a commercial debut in "select countries and regions across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific" in the "coming weeks." North America is notably absent from that list, although last year's "Brilliant Collection" (composed of a Razr handset and the Moto Buds Loop with Swarovski crystals) has been officially released stateside.

That means there is (some) hope for US availability as far as this second "Brilliant" duo is concerned, although the problem is the Motorola Signature phone has yet to be released in North America in a "standard", non-crystal-adorned edition.

So is the Motorola Signature ever coming to the US?

Sadly, I no longer think so. If you had asked me this back in January, I would have probably said yes, but with each passing day and new Motorola product launch, the chances of seeing the powerful Signature expanded from Europe and Asia drop further and further.

This was clearly the brand's best chance in a long time to take on the most advanced iPhones and (non-foldable) Samsung Galaxy handsets, but alas, Motorola seems content (or should I say complacent?) in competing only in the US foldable category and the mid-range arena.
