Privacy Display is hands down the best new feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, despite some of its limitations. Probably the best thing about it is that you get an extremely flexible set of options that allow you to hide certain things at certain times. With the latest One UI 9 update, these are getting even better.
Privacy Display is getting better integration with PiP apps
Samsung is improving how Privacy Display is working with apps that use picture-in-picture (PiP) mode. The upgrade was noticed in the latest One UI 9 Beta 4 by leaker Ice Universe and allows the feature to only obscure a PiP window when activated.
For example, if you enable Privacy Display only for YouTube and play a video in PiP mode, only the video will be obscured by the feature. Everything else on the screen of your phone will be excluded, and it’ll remain as bright as ever.

This is a welcome change that improves how Privacy Display works and makes it much more flexible, especially when multitasking. Before the update, the privacy protection feature used to remain active for the whole screen even after PiP mode was enabled.
A post on the Samsung Community forums also confirms that the new feature will continue functioning even when you drag the PiP window around the display. Features like Edge Panels will also be detected so the PiP Privacy Display doesn’t cover them.
In his in-depth review of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, my colleague Victor was pretty impressed by Privacy Display, even if he wasn’t sure if everyone would use it all the time. Still, he thought obscuring the display from all sides and the customization abilities were good enough to make this the headline feature of the phone.

When will this be available for everyone
The feature is currently only available for S26 Ultra users that have the latest One UI 9 beta installed. You can check for that inside the Samsung Members app.
If you’re not comfortable using beta software, you may have to wait a bit longer. Considering that’s not part of a major One UI update, the Privacy Display update should reach everyone sooner rather than later.
Upgrades that make sense
Samsung is really getting ahead of the crowd with Privacy Display, and I love to see the company isn’t just resting on its laurels. These types of small upgrades are what make the Galaxy S26 Ultra feel fresh even months after its launch, and I can only hope they keep coming our way.
