In less than a month, Samsung is expected to unveil its next-gen book-like foldable. Curiously enough, instead of naming it the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the company is expected to launch its foldable phone as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
As for the "standard" name, it's reportedly being reserved for a new, passport-style device. Yep, Samsung is to launch two book-like foldable phones this year, marking this change with a completely new naming scheme.
But if you're planning to grab one of these devices, fair warning: neither of these phones is expected to be affordable.
According to the latest leaks, the passport-like model might debut at around $1,800 to $1,999, while the Ultra could easily surpass the $2,000 mark this year.
Fortunately, you won't have to pay such a steep price for these premium phones. Many retailers have historically launched unbelievably good offers on new Galaxy Z Fold releases, allowing fans to maximize their investment.
Samsung's reservation campaign brings early savings

Historically, Samsung launches reservations for its upcoming premium phones, typically around two weeks before the Unpacked event. If this trend continues, and the reveal is indeed scheduled for July 22, 2026, we can expect reservations to open around July 8, 2026.
Signing up while reservations are open is always free and comes with benefits. Judging from previous releases, the company could give users an extra $50 credit and a chance to win $5,000 in Samsung Credits that you can redeem at the official store.
Expected pre-order deals at Samsung
Once the Galaxy Unpacked event is over, Samsung immediately opens its pre-order campaign. It's usually a mix of trade-in discounts and enhanced credits that help you save extra on accessories. Last year, for example, the Z Fold 7 was available at up to $1,000 off with select device trade-ins.
Those who didn't have the right device they could spare weren't left out: the official store gave shoppers a $300 Samsung Credit they could redeem at the time of checkout. Stacked with the $50 reservation credit, users could grab up to $350 they could use to buy cases, earbuds, or another accessory.
On top of all that, Samsung also allowed users to get a free storage upgrade, saving users an additional up to $240.
If this tendency continues for both models, I expect Samsung's upcoming foldables to be available at significantly lower prices.
Expected pre-order deals at Amazon
While Amazon doesn't historically release trade-in discounts for the best Galaxy phones, that doesn't mean you can't grab a discount at the e-commerce giant. Usually, the retailer offers a gift card around $300 with Galaxy Z Fold devices. Sometimes it also lets users receive a free storage upgrade, meaning they can pre-order the 512GB option at the price of the 256GB variant.
As for this year, I expect Amazon to launch a similar pre-order promo with a gift card. That said, it remains unclear whether the free storage upgrade will return.
If Samsung launches two book-like foldable this year, I expect the passport-style Galaxy Z Fold 8 to receive a slightly smaller gift card amount compared to the Ultra. Of course, we'll have to wait until launch to see exactly what kind of pre-order Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra promos become available at the e-commerce giant.
Expected pre-order deals at Verizon

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Z Fold 8 Ultra will most likely be available for pre-order at US carrier Verizon. Judging from previous pre-order discounts at this carrier, the upcoming Android phones could be available at discounts reaching $1,100.
Usually, Verizon doesn't require trade-ins at the time of pre-order, meaning users simply need to select an eligible plan to get the offer. Last year, for example, the carrier allowed new and existing customers on the Unlimited Ultimate plan to save up to $1,100 over 36 monthly bill credits.
Expected pre-order deals at T-Mobile
T-Mobile customers are most likely in for some massive discounts on the upcoming Galaxy foldables. Based on previous releases, the carrier might let you save up to $1,100 with an eligible trade-in and plan. Normally, T-Mobile reserves this maximum discount for users on higher-tier plans, such as the Experience Beyond or the Experience More.
Best of all, you can get your new device on the T-Mobile network straight through the Samsung Store, which could allow you to get some additional discounts, especially if you sign up during the reservation campaign.
Expected pre-order deals at AT&T
Last but not least, AT&T is expected to launch some exciting discounts on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide (or Galaxy Z Fold 8, depending on Samsung's ultimate naming decision) and the Galaxy Z Fold 7's successor.
History shows this US carrier tends to require trade-ins and eligible plans in order to unlock the biggest discounts. While pre-orders last, you could be able to trade in any Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, or Galaxy Note device in any condition to unlock up to $1,100 off the foldables.
Like Verizon, this network operator gives you the discounted amount over 36 monthly bill credits.
