What's your take on T-Satellite? Are you using it and if so—are you content with what you're getting for your money?
T-Mobile's special service isn't as popular (as in, sheer user numbers) as an MVNO, for example, but more and more people are taking advantage of it when no cell tower is available.
People are praising it on forums like Reddit, but there isn't a shortage of people who complain, either.
What's your take on satellite connectivity?

Pros and cons
A Reddit user by the nickname of stallion434, for example, gives the T-Satellite service two thumbs up, calling it "excellent". Per their findings, T-Satellite is working great at Acadia National Park and it's "by far the best service for those visiting National Parks often".

Others also praise T-Satellite, but the critics are well-versed, too. They're reporting a frustrating limitation of satellite connectivity: phones may refuse to connect to satellites as long as they detect even a faint cellular signal. The FriendlyLawnmower user says they've experienced situations where their phone shows a bar of tower reception, but the connection is so weak that messages and mobile data simply don't work. Because the phone technically still has a cellular signal, it won't let them switch to satellite service, leaving them without a reliable way to communicate.

Soon, this limitation could disappear if phones become smart enough to judge connection quality rather than simply detecting a signal. Instead of stubbornly clinging to a barely functional cell tower, a phone could automatically switch to satellite connectivity whenever its cellular connection becomes too weak to be useful.
The need to detach
More and more people feel the need to detach from the online world and the feeling of being connected at all times—but that's only because we're sinking deeper into the digital world. People have various solutions to this phenomenon; some put their phone in Do Not Disturb mode, others deliberately leave it in the other room for an hour or two. Others indulge in the ancient art of exploring the Great Outdoors.
Luckily, there's so much of that across the US. The numerous national parks are so vast and so remote that it's not easy to hook them with the phone networks—and, in order to preserve nature to the best we can, there's no need to do that, actually.
Where satellite comes in
Still, there are moments that we want to share those same Great Outdoors with our loved ones or health-threatening situations when we need to have phone connectivity. Right now, the solution is satellite connectivity.
Both the best Android phones and the best iPhones come with the technology needed to connect to a satellite above Earth. And in national parks across the US, it's how we stay in touch with the city. True, we're not yet at the stage where we can enjoy cellular calls or a stable web connection, but services like T-Mobile's T-Satellite allow sending short text messages and support a handful of messaging apps like WhatsApp.
