Apple's A17 Pro-powered iPad mini is a maxi hit at a killer new $100 Amazon discount with no strings
No, you actually don't need an Amazon Prime membership to get arguably the best compact tablet around at an excellent price right now.

The 8.3-inch slate is obviously not getting any younger, but with no (official) signs of a sequel, it still seems like a very interesting option for plenty of folks who don't necessarily think bigger equals better in today's tech landscape. For an undoubtedly limited time, Amazon is charging a cool 100 bucks less than usual for every single iPad mini (7th Gen) variant, and even though this deal happens to coincide with the e-commerce giant's huge Prime Day 2026 sale, you don't need to be a Prime member to reduce your spending for your next big tablet... with a small screen.
Normally priced at $499 and up, the newest iPad mini edition is made more affordable than the gargantuan Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus, for instance, by Amazon's latest discount, although the aforementioned 10.9-inch Tab S10 FE is 50 bucks cheaper at the time of this writing (with an obligatory Prime membership).
Of course, it's not really fair to try to compare such vastly different devices, but then again, there aren't a lot of compact Android tablets that can go up against the iPad mini (2024) in terms of raw power, display quality, or overall style.

Small screens don't necessarily have to be bad, and the iPad mini (2024) is living proof. | Image by PhoneArena
With an insanely thin 6.3mm profile and a gorgeous Liquid Retina IPS LCD screen in tow, the latest diminutive iPad basically represents a class of tablets on the verge of extinction, which probably explains why I don't remember ever seeing the 8.3-incher score a heftier discount than $100 (at least in an entry-level configuration with 128GB internal storage space and no cellular connectivity).
Granted, the pint-sized but remarkably powerful tablet has been marked down by $100 across the board a number of times in the past, but the last such occasion was several months ago, so I'm sure many of you will relish the new opportunity to save big on one of the best tablets money can buy in 2026.
