Video leaks out of an Apple iPhone 5 booting up to iOS 6
MIC Gadget clarifies that the device was “accidentally discovered” at the Jincheng Foxconn factory, but we’d just take this as another way for saying stolen.
The allegedy iPhone 5 boots up to a “cannot complete activation” message in iOS 6. Everything is true to rumor - the 4-inch taller screen, the thinner profile, the new 9-pin dock and changed position for the 3.5mm jack.
This is either Apple under Tim Cook really failing on the secretiveness or a masterful way to fool us all. But it seems like it’s the former. What do you think?

If that is true, the design of the "new" iPhone or iPhone 5 is very busted. I am sorry but the 3 plus year old design is very much over played now.

If the caption on this video article said "iphone 4 booting up to is 6" you'd have pretty much believed it was. Should anyone really expect anymore from apple given their previous history

well, after checking other companies designs....i have to disagree

What are you talking about? Look at the new Nokia's, they are brilliant. The HTC's always look different yet sexy, & even Samsung's Galaxy S III is a sharp looking phone. What about Sony's Xperia line? Those are wonderfully designed phones.
Apple's 3+ year old design is getting OLD very quickly. "Iconic" design belongs to cars like BMW, Ferrari & Rolls Royce. Or to old art deco designs from the 30's, that is "iconic" not a 3 year old mobile phone design.
The iPhone 4 design was nice in 2009 but in 2012 is just yesterdays rehash.

That's not the point of view from an iPhone user. For years they've been wanting a larger screen and now they are getting it. The rest is irrelevant from that point on.
For those of us using Windows or Android phones, we've been using phones on a different level than the iPhone. We expect more because we've been given more historically. If you've lived in the iOS ecosystem, a 4" screen and finally 4G radios is huge. You have to look at it from that perspective, otherwise it's just another phone with dated features.
I don't agree with settling for less like they do, but that's my opinion, which many iOS users don't share. For me, I want it all or as much as the technology can handle. And I don't use iOS.

It's also about choosing the OS you enjoy the most. Android can have 4G radios, NFC and this and that, but at the end of the day, I don't want an Android device as my primary one. It makes it really easy to wait for the next iPhone.
As for the design, its solid but not groundbreaking. The iPhone 4/4S is still one of the better designed smartphones, so I wouldn't mind having it, but lets just keep on hoping that this isn't it, lol

or for some of us its what our employer will support and/or pay for. we have iPhones only now and i am a huge android fan.... killed me going from the S3 to the 4S a couple months ago when i started the job BUT now with LTE and a slightly larger (still 4.3 is the sweet spot i think but 4" isn't all bad) it will be 100% more tolerable. we have about 10k employees and probably approx 5k iPhone 4/4S on vzw, att, and sprint and from water cooler talk we'll have about 3/4 of those upgrade within the next couple months since there catching up to where droid was 2yrs ago.... not because people are excited in the least about a new and innovative iPhone..... I'm sure there are many other employers in the same boat.

I love the troll that goes around and thumbs down all the negative Iphone post. What a scared little girl to actually post.
And yes this is very outdated. And IphoneARENA is about to be to. Keeps posting about its beloved iphone.

Here's what I don't understand. Why is it that every website I read (except for the sites dedicated to only Android) have people in comments complaining about an iPhone bias? It is literally EVERY website I read (gizmodo, phonearena, bgr, the verge, etc.). Can you tell me why? Is it because Android fans are just obnoxious? I think so...

gizmodo seems to hav a higher Apple support rate than here. This is mainly an Android-based comment site.
48. quickweevil (Posts: 50; Member since: 21 Dec 2011)
There are a few more pro-iPhone commentors there. The anti-iPhone commentors are just so much more loud and obnoxious...

Does anyone know why is Apple an object of hatred? I know. Because it was an object of worship. You can't be mad on company no matter what they do. You can just be mad at someone who you are in love with. Unhappily in love. Because iPhone doesn't like you. He likes ordinary people, and you are not ordinary. You are nerd. You are nerd who thinks large screen is "progress", but it's something else, isn't it?
12. Aeires (unregistered)
-1 just for propping Apple up as a god to be worshiped.
17. AppleConspiracy (Posts: 627; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
You know it is. You watch that fact every day. Firstly in emotionality of Apple haters, then in iFanboys.
24. Aeires (unregistered)
Cult of Apple. No thanks.
26. AppleConspiracy (Posts: 627; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
I'm not asking you to join it, just to accept that it exists. The sooner we know it, the sooner will we know on what we are mad about. Hint: it's not design, specs, screen size or suing other manufacturers.
40. Aeires (unregistered)
If you left out suing other manufacturers, I'd have agreed. Apple impacting our choices is something to not be happy about, can't argue that away.
I'll only speak for myself, I started disliking Apple because the people that bought their phones had a common tendency to look down their noses at those of us who chose Android. That moved on to disliking them because the lawsuits showed their hypocrisy, Apple has a huge history of copying other people's work.
If you want to worship Apple, it's your choice.
43. AppleConspiracy (Posts: 627; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
Why would I want to worship Apple?
You know what I think? I think that true religion of Apple is not where iFanboys feel special about themselves as more valuable humans. I think it's among ordinary people that somehow just "know" that they should by Apple products. It's the engineering of need that emerges from social, culturological and technological way of life. The way of life is the whole netvwork and infrastructure that is actually under one divine sign - iCon. Icon is the image of God. Image of iPhone is everywhere. It's a GENERIC image of aesthetisation of our lives. So, there's actual religion. Even among those who hate Apple. They hate it because they are integrated in the system, because the system depends on referencing to Apple. Success of Android dependes on referencing to Apple. And Apple depends on no one but itself. It's self-centered, self-referenced phenomenon that is readable as divinity in subconcious levels.
I'm aware that most people don't have level of education and understanding the true mechanism behind Apple, I don't blame them. But they still react. They feel the magnitude. And they react religiously. By hating Apple. Because definition of religion is placed on lack of knowledge on something. If you know, you don't believe. You just know. You can believe only if you don't know.
30. binerry (Posts: 69; Member since: 16 Mar 2012)
Yeah, because millions upon millions of people "worship". That's a pretty big cult. If it weren't a good phone, that many people wouldn't own it.
41. metalpoet (unregistered)
Fact: Apple sues everyone that they feel is "stealing" their ideas.
Speculation: iPhone is super innovative and user friendly.
Fact: 75% of Women in the U.S. that own any cellphone, owns an iPhone.
Specualtion: They want to only own an iPhone because of the millions and millions of pink fuzzy sparkly cases and dont give a s*** about the performance of the phone and also because women tend to be incredibly caddy and clique-like and if you dont own an iPhone....your wierd.
Fact: Give me a minimum of 4.5 inch display, dualcore, 4G LTE, 8mp rear camera, 1.3mp front camera, 2200 battery, and I am a happy camper as long as it has a windows or android system.
All in all I sell iPhones, windows, blackberry's, and android phones on at&t, sprint, and verizon on a daily basis and Apple makes a decent product but they do not allow any form of customization. As long as Apple stops sueing everyone and truly just competes for better products then Im fine.

you have a very unusual but interesting point of view... i read every comment you post and for the most part they are very consistent with your conspiracy theory.
i believe you are absolutely correct with your research and findings about how apple is viewed among fans/haters all the way down to legal and political views...
37. AppleConspiracy (Posts: 627; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
Thank you for support.
I must however state that "conspiracy" is only ironic phrase that I use, because I think situation is even more catastrophic - there is no conspiracy. It is an authentic formation of religious realms from cult following of products that operate on subconcious levels of object worshiping as a medium for self-actualisation and social identification in general. It all comes down to the question of power in various forms - in form of Apple products in our case. That's why we see the development of religious formation "on the other side", as an opposition, in discourse of Android and Samsung etc, which are the other religion formed as an antagonism to religion of Apple.
The part which is quite disturbing is that Apple has showed that technological companies have the ability to form this kind of social dynamics for which we hoped we outgrown and eliminated. It tells us that scientific paradigm was just a meta-narrative (a fairy tale if you wish) and that humans still function as primarily shallow religious beings. I wish it is only a conspiracy, but it's not.

What is the point of putting the headphone jack on the bottom of the phone? I hate when companies do that. Maybe the top is where the NFC chip will be.
19. Vinayakn73 (Posts: 87; Member since: 05 Oct 2011)
dude the headphone jack is kind of a$$ of phone. so its always stays at bottom. a$$ es are not to put on head (Top)
23. quickweevil (Posts: 50; Member since: 21 Dec 2011)
I love it! My Galaxy Nexus had it on the bottom. For me, when I put the phone in my front pocket, it's natural to put the phone in upside-down. That way, when I pull it out, it's already rightside-up. My iPhone 4S is a pain when it comes to that.
28. iamcc (Posts: 1319; Member since: 07 Oct 2011)
I thought the same thing when my Galaxy Nexus came with the jack on the bottom. After roughly 60 seconds of actually using the phone while listening to music it all made perfect sense.
I hope every phone I buy from now on has it on the bottom and as silly as it sounds it's actually a selling point for me. It's just clunky having the wire draped over the top when you're actually using the phone.
42. Aeires (unregistered)
Works fine until I slide the phone in my car dock, then the earphone on the bottom becomes an aggravation. Loved the location on my S2, not so fond of it on my GNex.
15. iDroidx650 (Posts: 72; Member since: 26 May 2010)
It's an iPhone. What makes you think Apple will go and make it look like a completely different phone running a revamped OS. That is not how Apple runs their business. The iPhone will always still in line with the same design que.
25. AppleConspiracy (Posts: 627; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
French philosopher Jean F. Lyotard has written in the seventies about current state of knowledge in the world, ad described it as a state in which "science and progress" are the ideological and religious pamphlets. Progress must be made for the progress' sake, even if we don't need it.
If Apple iPhone works for most people, then progress in terms of changing design just to be changed because we expect it under this "progress regime" is nothing more than ideological terrorism inside the system itself.
We are now looking for ways to hate iPhone for something. And so we decided we hate it because it didn't change design (and nobody asks why should great design be changed at all) or some technical aspect.
Of course, we see that precisely in this we find religion far more dangerous than Apple religion itself. It's something in which we are fundamentally religious - in hate for iPhone. And we secretly know that it isn't actually because it hasn't changed design or have killer specs. We know this is our faith, materialized thru hatred just as Christian hates Muslim, or vice versa...
18. tech_lover (Posts: 25; Member since: 02 Jun 2012)
this can't be the real deal IMO..see the bottom of the phone is not symmetrical as it was in 4s...this probably is a chinese knockoff...waitin for 12th sep.....
22. KiddUriel (Posts: 5; Member since: 16 Jul 2012)
Is it just more or does anyone else think that the phone is a fake? At 0:30 notice the design flaw on the upper-right hand corner of the screen. Also, compare the home button seen on the original iPhone to the supposed iPhone 5. It isnt "Apple Like" quality. But all of this is just a thought. I could be wrong.

I'm glad I went Android. If that is the new iPhone, I would not have purchased one. I'm happy with my Note, and will be happy with my Note2 when it comes out.

I like how iFans are contradicting them selves. On one side they say the great design does not need change. On other they say this is fake, bla bla, apple will reveal the new design during conference and blow us away.
iFans please make up your mind.
