Samsung GALAXY Nexus to launch December 8th in Canada; pre-orders start today
Reports that the Samsung GALAXY Nexus is going to launch December 8th are right on the money. That is, if you live in Canada. Of course, in the U.S. a number of dates have been bandied about with December 8th being one of them. The first Ice Cream Sandwich flavored phone (sounds delicious, doesn't it?) will be available north of the border from Bell, which is charging $160 with a signed three year contract. The carrier is accepting pre-orders for the device starting today.

Bell is using a "Twitter line" that will be open from 10 am to 10 pm Eastern time on December 1st. The first 100 people on the line will be guaranteed the opportunity to buy the phone and have it shipped on December 8th. But those who take part in this experiment (for lack of a better word) will have to tweet out a promotional message for the phone every hour from 10 to 10 on the first of next month in order to keep their place in line. Those who can't be bothered to sit in front of a keyboard all day can simply place their preorder for the phone. The advantage for using the "Twitter line" is that you can be locked in as one of the first 100 in Canada to receive the phone.

What's funny is that it's a no-win for VZW...if they release it before their standards are met, "Here's what you wanted. It's still buggy and the volume doesn't work, but you wanted it..." Everyone on here would be screaming bloody murder, "How could they release this device half baked?! VZW @*(#@()*&$&%)!..."

Instead, they announce nothing (yet) and they get the same "#(#@*(!@#*&~~~!!!". Just put on the flame proof overalls... ;-P

Normally I would agree, but I think at THIS point, people have been watering at the mouth for it for so long, I think the more diehard fans would be willing to overlook it. Me included.

I'd only get annoyed if it turns out to be a hardware issue. Then I'd be upset at Samsung for using faulty hardware. I prefer not to use software patches to band-aid really bad hardware in the first place, but if the hardware fault is so bad not even software can make it usable, well then... your SO,L as they say.

18. bossmt_2 posted on 21 Nov 2011, 16:12 1

Honestly as long as the issue isn't hardware, I'm sure a hacker could fix it in a week. I could deal with a faulty music player (don't use my phone for music generally) but at this point for there not to be a peep. I'd rather have them at least give a rough timetable, like within a month or something like that.

actually it was anounced a while ago and had a latew november launch date for the USA so the fact it is not being released meens there should be an update for the consumers as too why or what happened. otherwise why anounce it. no other company does that. its kind of rude and insulting.i have been waiting for this phone for awhile. it was either this or the iphone and the iphone 4s is not upgraded enough to justify not using my iphone 4 or my upad 2 or bionic. thhe longer this plays out the closer i might just let my two years run out in feburary and switch carriers. or just not get the phone. ATT sucks but atliest i can take an international phone thats unlocked like the galayxy 3 when it comes out then and have a brand new hi tech phone thats not based off of hardware that was first used early this year in the gs2. well except LTE.

awww.. dont be sad... I read you on an Apple article.. and your point is?....

28. iamcc posted on 21 Nov 2011, 20:25

The new excuse is that its still November. Since you don\\\'t understand English well I\\\'ll make it easy:

It

Is

Still

November.

Easy?

By the way, the phone was released IN NOVEMBER in the UK.

24. remixfa posted on 21 Nov 2011, 18:38 1

well, the good news is the volume rocker issue has been isolated to only happen when the phone is on EDGE service, so the user groups have already narrowed it down and tested it. That means that its software hopefully, and maybe it will get patched quickly

25. Dmann posted on 21 Nov 2011, 19:22 1 1

Actually, word on XDA is that it might be hardware.

This bug happens even on BootLoader mode, which shouldn\'t be affected by software.

Samsung dropped the ball on this one. I was actually suggesting the Prime for a friend of mine in Canada, but now I have my doubts.

The funny thing is that he really was between the Nexus and the iPhone 4s.

That one is on you, Google/Samsung!

26. androidphan posted on 21 Nov 2011, 19:45

You people have NO idea why the US doesn't have a launch date. Leave it to greedy American consumers to get all angry and start blaming carriers and calling the device and OS a pile of crap.

http://thered99.com/1459/verizon-samsung-galaxy-nexus-prime-release-date-leaked-as-december-8th/

There is lots of proof on this one I don't know if it's real but the information seems too go along with all recent news on the release of the htc incredible 2 red which I just read might be launched on the 24th instead. The good news about the samsung section is that stores have been getting accessories for the phone just like it says in the memo. I think this could actually happen. I just hope ther is atliest 16 gb of free space or a 32 gb model. 16gb is small when you consider how much room is left with my bionics original 16 gb. I believe it's miss information claiming an amount of space than having less. I wish there were guidelines on that because everyone does it. Operating system should have a 2 too 4 gb allowance or advertise the actual ffree amount of space. (iPad 2 14 gb version, droid bionic 2 gb internal 8 gb sd card and 16 gb external sd card)

I am sure Ill catch some grief for this, but every single day I get on here looking up news about this phone for a friend of mine, who is patiently awaiting its arrival in the states, I cannot help but think...THANK GOD I didn\'t wait and got the RAZR instead. Yes, I am sure the Nexus will be a great phone. And, of course ICS is looking tasty. But, really, for me it doesn\'t seem to offer anything that the RAZR doesn\'t have (or will have)...plus (for me) the battery life is great. The LTE radio is amazing. The build quality and materials are 2nd to none, plus the thing just looks beautiful. Never was a huge fan of MotoBlur, but its pretty sweet on the RAZR...and MotoConnect actually works very well. Once it receives a hopefully less buggy ICS from Moto I cant see wanting a Nexus instead...So why are people wanting this so bad?

Its Samsung? I don\'t think they shine as a VZW leader when it comes to phone manufacturers...

Its the first with ICS? Fairly sure it wont be too terribly long until we see ROMs, as well as the official ICS update for phones like the Rezound and RAZR/Bionic. Especially if they keep pushing back the release for the Nexus...If it has been announce in Canada for the 8th, I would like to think that they\'d announce it here as well if it were indeed coming to the U.S. on the 8th. My guess is it\'ll be later in December like was rumored quite awhile ago...mid-Dec.

If this phone would have launched early November, no doubt I would have jumped on it...but honestly, I dont see why its something to anticipate so much over now.

Ok, wow, this is my first post on here, and it was a little winded...for that I apologize...lol
