Is it time for the reign of the big three to end? | Image by PhoneArena
T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon have enjoyed their hold over the wireless network industry stateside for far too long according to some customers. As benefits disappear and bills continue to climb, Americans are now cheering on SpaceX, which has expressed an interest in becoming the United States’ fourth major carrier.
SpaceX, your new network company?

SpaceX wants to become a carrier in the United States, and the company intends to do it right with proper land-based infrastructure for premium service. We asked you in a poll what route SpaceX should take, and over 50 percent of you are in favor of it building its own network from the ground up.
Meanwhile, 22 percent of respondents said that SpaceX should buy one of the major three carriers instead.
Not everyone is on board with the idea
On the other hand, almost 20 percent of voters wish that SpaceX would stay out of the cellular industry entirely. Undoubtedly, part of this sentiment is driven by the divisive public opinion on Elon Musk, because more competition is always good. Especially in an industry that has been dominated by three players for this long.
Lastly, a little over seven percent of you think that SpaceX should become an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) instead of a more established carrier like T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon. What about you?

Which route should SpaceX choose?
T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon might be forced into a deal
The major three U.S. carriers have, up until now, refused to enter an MVNO agreement with SpaceX. Additionally, all three have suddenly decided to partner with each other to eliminate dead zones across the country.
This is likely a result of SpaceX trying to enter the industry. One analyst even thinks that SpaceX might be bluffing just to get better contract terms from T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon.
I’d love to see a SpaceX network
All three U.S. carriers need competition, that much we can all agree on. I remember when Musk was first criticized for an unworkable plan for electric cars. He made it work. Then, people made bold claims that Starlink could never become a reality. Today, it is.
Without getting into the politics of the situation, I think that a SpaceX carrier company would be one of the best things that could happen to the cellular industry in the U.S. SpaceX certainly has the money to make it happen, and I’m hoping that it does.
And, judging from the votes, it appears many of you are as well.
