Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to use three-sided YOUM display
The other new feature of the screen might turn out to be even more exciting. According to this rumor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will feature a three-sided display. This rumor dates back to January, when we first told you that Sammy's next phablet would offer such a thing. The very next month, we once again passed along a rumor about a "rolled edge" display on the Galaxy Note 4, similar to a three-sided display (the more interesting part of that report was talk of a foldable Galaxy Note 5 for 2015).
Samsung has filed a patent application for a wraparound screen, which follows the same concepts as the three-sided display. It could allow for the use of virtual buttons and allow users to more easily tab through files or pictures sorted alphabetically or by year.
It all raises the excitement level for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The phablet, which carries a lot of expectations this year, now carries much more.
Thanks for the tip!

They trying to make news because they don't have any new things like S5. Always making news even if the fake news and try to stop to forget about Samsung.

Wow, really? So the fastest camera on any smartphone isn't anything new? The first heart rate sensor on a phone isn't anything new either? The power to change the focus on photos after taking them isn't new either, is it, rednecks? the fact that it's water proof isn't new, no? The fact that it has 64 bits not new, no? The fact that ultra power saving mode can let you browse the net and use the phone for a week on battery isn't new, right? the fact that it has a 7 channel music equalizer.. still not new? the fact that
IT CAN COMBINE WIFI AND MOBILE for data, not new, no?? for you "clever" iphone lovers nothing is new, yeah?! Oh, it's made from plastic? Making it from metal to make it heavy and more expensive would be so much better, right? Because stupidity isn't new indeed. And yours is pretty old.

The galaxy S5 doesn't have 64bit processor.

any phone's camera can be used as heartbeat sensor and its too accurate..no need of extra sensor for it..they could have done so...but u doesnt love gimmicks?

Easy there son, I love Samsung phones just as much as the next person, but it's just a phone. No need to give yourself an ulcer over it. The S5 is a worthy upgrade from the S3 or Note 2 for sure, but not so sure if it's worth upgrading from the S4 or Note 3.

I fully agree with you. I am not a big fan of Samsung and I recently bought the iPad Air which by the way I like very much but it is clear that Samsung has been improving quite a lot throughout the years. Some Apple's diehards hates listening certain things but I do believe this year is going to be vital for Apple. If they continue to improve what we already have here than I do think Apple will be in serious trouble. The iPad Air is a fantastic tablet and I do believe Apple can enjoy the advantages they already have over Samsung and other manufactures to embrace certain things they should already have done. Multitask is present everywhere why not make it available in iOS 8? File explorer is inexistent, but why? Don't tell me it is not important because it is and would save users' precious time. No SD card slot? Are people going to say it is. It important either? It is very important it would be a very welcome change. Don't take me wrong, I love the iPad Air but if you look at Samsung and their pro tablet line you cane see how much they have been working. Higher resolution display, excellent processor and memory. The only thing that I truly hate about Samsung is this bloody touchwiz thing. I absolutely hate it. Update the OS is another horrible thing if Samsung at least allowed us to remove all the unnecessary and sometimes useless apps they ship, as well as a faster OS update I am sure they would worry Apple much more. It is about time Apple embrace reality and add these and other so necessary features. Lots are beginning to questions if they should spend their five hundred dollars on a 16g iPad model knowing that other companies offer better screen resolution, equal speed, file manager and expandable storage.

Actually the fact that its waterproof isn't new, other phones had that, even the galaxy active from last year. The GS5 doesn't have a 64 bit processor. I have an iPhone 5S and its metal and glass and its far from heavy, infact i think it weighs less than the S5, and the the 16GB iPhone 5S and 16GB GS5 cost the same at $650.00.

Translation: Samsung will continue to sell twice as many smartphones as anyone else, and that really makes my derriere ache.

I don't know what to think about this if it were true. I kind of like my phones just being flat and rounded like normal.

good luck handing your mom your phone to look at a photo...
Its hard enough now.. every time she grabs my s4 she either hits a button or the screen and the pic disappears.
Followed by me saying.. you dont need to hold the phone to see the picture.... Logans run had a point....

It better be, its being released 6 months after the S5.

Haters won't hate the design for this phablet.
26. walnuttt (Posts: 43; Member since: 11 Apr 2014)
I dont think so, haters always have something to say even when the phone is perfectly created (design, great specs, build quality etc.) especially to Samsung. They have so lots of things to say against it. Haters gonna hate forever because of some reasons:
- they can't afford the phone
- the phone they are bashing beats the phone/brand they are using.
- they have lots of insecurities in theirselves.
- they have nothing to do in their useless life but to waste their time bashing Samsung.
- and whatever stupid reasons they have (no one cares)
43. ArtSim98 (Posts: 2495; Member since: 21 Dec 2012)
I agree. But that goes to all haters not only Samsung.
66. Salazzi (Posts: 148; Member since: 17 Feb 2014)
So.. by those standards, it equally applies to the multitude of individuals who have been hating on Apple exponentially as hard for the past 3 years, yeah? Because it's witnessed that there are indeed more haters of Apple than Samsung. Or do you only seem to highlight what you think applies to Samsung exclusively and haters of anything else have genuine reasons for doing so but no genuine reasons for doing so to Samsung?

I have been an iphone 4 user for 3 years now. I am really happy with apple so far, reliable and solid phone, but after seeing note 3, what it can do, i was stunned!! The screen was huge compared to my ip4's, different camera shoot modes, group play etc etc...
So I decided it's time to move on, not hating apple or anything, just want to try something new that looks amazing..
I would like an honest opinion from a previous note owner on if i should wait for the Note 4, or go ahead and buy the Note 3.
Thanks for your time, any additional tips are more than welcome (;

I happen to find the "new form factor" rather welcoming than Sammy's outdated home button centralized design.
It will be unique, and I'm happy that we don't have to see Sammy and Apple engaging in their trial wars for design that is if this is Samsung's new design platform.
9. slaggyb (Posts: 189; Member since: 19 Oct 2011)
How is this even practical? Allan F and sugar coating rumours. I guess it will also feature a flexible battery, fake flexible leather back and fake flexible metal frame. Smh!

At least they are trying something new. Unlike the dying company you seem to support.
28. Salazzi (Posts: 148; Member since: 17 Feb 2014)
and which company is that? What proof do you have that he supports the company you're thinking off? Stop presuming crap.
33. kiros (Posts: 1; Member since: 19 Apr 2014)
Uhm. His profile photo "Blackberry by Choice"? I don't know...
34. Salazzi (Posts: 148; Member since: 17 Feb 2014)
LOL I didn't even read that. Lesson learned on my end. I was the one assuming. Thanks kiros, and my apologies SleepingOz!
10. Scientist (Posts: 19; Member since: 22 Oct 2012)
I am 99.99% positive that this will not happen. It will be the same old design with maybe different back cover.
12. Diezparda (Posts: 205; Member since: 23 Oct 2013)
Love my juggernote 3, i'm not even think to change my device so soon to any flagship phone that just been released like Z2 & M8. It's not like they are ugly or not good but once you using large screen device you'll never go back. Hope the next Note 4 has better design, specs, features with the same or even larger display with smaller body it'll be sexy.
Oh and don't forget the S-Pen...
24. networkdood (Posts: 6261; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
lol, my phone is a juggernaut - coolpad 9976A - Note 3 is like its little brother...
27. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5217; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
LOL...that Coolpad phone is humongous lol, I wonder how you can use it on daily basis for a 7 inch phablet, must be looking weird to have that on your ear.
29. slaggyb (Posts: 189; Member since: 19 Oct 2011)
Talking about once you use a big screen you ain't going back lol. I have been a blackberry user since 2010 and currently using the Q10 which I love and typing with and I have used Samsung's flagship from the GT9000, 9100 9300 and ended with the N7100 and that while the only acted as a backup phone cos I was still using the bold 9900. Am glad I disposed all those crappy Samsung phones before I got stuck with them forever. The most annoying part of the N7100 i.e The Note 2 was it's limited 16 web pages with all the hardware humming inside it. All this phones I bought internationally unlocked without no carrier branding
53. Diezparda (Posts: 205; Member since: 23 Oct 2013)
Opening 16 web page at once? and talking about crappy samsung phone? Seriously? The crashberry like many times slower and crashes very often i need to reset my 9900 daily and poor battery life and the ridiculous price tag oh please... I won't even touch Bb 10 os enough is enough.
I'm Indonesian i'm using bb because all my friend using it and now we have bbm on android and iOS so bye bye blackberry.
14. r3trokiller (Posts: 17; Member since: 30 Mar 2014)
Ugly!! Even more uglier than S5. Samsung has neva brought any new design. Its wandering all around its ugly and cheap designs.
21. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Aesthetic is subjective, buddy.
And btw try vaseline next time.
31. The-Sailor-Man (Posts: 682; Member since: 25 Mar 2014)
S4 is not ugly at all.
And this "rumor" is BS
15. Jeradiah3 (Posts: 980; Member since: 11 Feb 2010)
Im not going to make any speculations about the Note 4 until I see it in person. I want to think that it will be better than the Note 3, but I get the feeling that there will be a slight design change to it..........therefore I will get the Note when Im ready to upgrade because its the safer bet
16. XperiaX (Posts: 17; Member since: 20 Feb 2014)
feels like the side screen will get sketch easier and faster cause i don't think any screen protector can stick on such angle...
17. elitewolverine (Posts: 1371; Member since: 28 Oct 2013)
for people who hold the phone on the sides...this will put considerable strain on the systems components having to constantly read/ignore the touch.
18. Topcat488 (Posts: 1124; Member since: 29 Sep 2012)
Executives at YOUM has been using this phone for 2 years now... Now they finally release it to the consumers,...Why the delay Sammy? I'm waiting for that folding Phablet from Youm. But I'll probably but this one until then.
20. xperiaDROID (Posts: 5217; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
No, just no. Just keep it a normal shape that we're used to, not some kind of rounded curvy sided weird-looking shape.
44. ArtSim98 (Posts: 2495; Member since: 21 Dec 2012)
Right now Samsung phones look more conservative than Sony though.
22. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Have yet to see what does it have to offer. If it's a failure, I'm definitely moving to Oppo or may be OnePlus
23. Planterz (Posts: 682; Member since: 30 Apr 2012)
Interesting, but how would this work with a case? Something like an Otterbox would be out of the question, and even a flip cover would be odd.
39. DONUT (Posts: 289; Member since: 27 Jun 2013)
perhaps a top-down flip case? but i really wonder with the screen being like this, what would it mean for durability
25. networkdood (Posts: 6261; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
sooo, maybe we could get a flexible screen - 7-9 inches when unfolded, and normal size folded...lol...yeah, that would be crazy,,,
32. 0xFFFF (Posts: 2594; Member since: 16 Apr 2014)
Samsung rumors are getting almost as bad as the Apple rumors.
36. Tizen007 (Posts: 500; Member since: 07 Jan 2014)
Decided not to follow any Samsung rumors after the GS5 but I guess an executive said it.
38. 0xFFFF (Posts: 2594; Member since: 16 Apr 2014)
I doubt the Wacom digitizer layer will work with this type of screen.
55. chemhaz (Posts: 160; Member since: 04 May 2012)
That will be useful in getting Apple of their backs witht he swipe a screen to unlock as this would do so much more, swipe the side to unlock, call , answer, reject clear, clear reminders check appointments, weather etc....
So what will they call the display on the spine / side of the phone....mmm I can feel the need for new terminology - displ-ine or diside (this side) ?
