No Value Pack update for Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab is to be released

What else can be expected from Samsung when it comes to updates , they are delaying ICS updates for their flagships like s2 , so galaxy s is very far away from getting an update.

last report says sgs2s were getting ifs before other manufacturers did. What are u talking about?

Reports. The fact is, HTC and Motorola are always more reliable in getting new OS updates than crapsung

who cares.. samsung might seem crap to you
but it always has better hardware than motorola and htc.
that beats thing is a total joke. all they did was change the eq and it still sounds like crap

Contrary to popular belief, updated software is just as important as hardware, which crapsung never seems to get. Also, I'd trade a much better screen (any HTC atm) than a marginally better processor and camera.

my friends XDA is the best friend of your Samsung Galaxy S... even if samsung would give an update, they will introduce touchwiz in it which you wouldn't want...

Thanks god I chose the S.E.X Neo over SGS.

I already got updated, ,, through XDA , but it has lots of bugs , as its alpha or beta version.....but i wish they could have rolled out official ICS for galaxy s. but now all in well..:(

Just like my Apple with Siri and iPhone 4, only having it on iPhone 4S (And coming up with an excuse that iPhone 4 won't handle Siri). Which means all these manufacturers are the same. Wether it's a nice juicy fruit or mouth watering desert, all the same.

@slim. Siri is not a software update silly, lol. So you cannot compare it with this one. Fandroids are so dumb :)
17. hybris (Posts: 56; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
This guy has an iPhone, wahat are you talking about? You always leave these ignorant, snide comments and never reply when someone calls you out. Yes-- fanboys are dumb on both sides, including you. The guy you replied to doesn't sound like a fanboy.
23. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
@hybris. So what if he has an iphone? It does not make him right to compare an app to an os update, lol.
19. remixfa (Posts: 14255; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
what is siri then,Gemini? Is it something magical that can only happen on an i4s and not an i4? No.. its their one big selling point other than a bigger camera. They don't want to cannibalize i4s sales. Maybe if they would stop with these rediculous refreshes and add real features they wouldn't have to give their older phones neutered versions of new OS's.
24. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
@remix. You don't know what siri is? Oh well, I'm not surprised.
Siri is an exclusive update to ip4s. Just like the 8mp camera is. Now? Can siri be on ip4? Probably yes, just like an 8mp can be on the ip4 as well. Point is, siri is not a software update like you think it is, lol. Also, I love how you turn this article about samsung's inabilities into the iphone :)
27. hybris (Posts: 56; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
You said siri before he brought up iPhone. And how is it hardware related? Siri is working on iphone 4s, are you telling me they installed new hardware to do so? lol.
35. frydaexiii (Posts: 1459; Member since: 01 Dec 2011)
Siri is purely software based, no hardware that is used to run Siri cannot be found on the iPhone 4.
For SGS's ICS update, it's the hardware limitations that prevent a TOUCHWIZed skinned ICS from being installed, Samsung didn't say that the SGS couldn't handle pure ICS.
But my point is, Siri is software based and is Apple's decision not to port it for iPhone 4 because a slightly improved camera alone won't make people want to buy the 4S.
For the SGS, Samsung has no choice as there are people out there (for some god forsaken reason) actually like and use touchwiz and have no idea what pure Android and ICS actually look and work like. Even if they released an update for ICS which totally did away with Touchwiz and gave them a pure ICS , the people who use and like Touchwiz will start complaining. Even if they gave them the option of whether to stick with Tuchwiz on Gingerbread or go ahead and upgrade to Pure ICS, these same people would have no idea and just press update, only to be disappointed that touchwiz is now gone.

listen bub when the nexus s gets it soon the galaxy family will follow. some of the layout of the hardware is different but most of the features should port.

Samsung wants to send you a message.
"Stop updating your old phone and buy our new phone"
Think, Samsung Galaxy 3 will be released this year. They don't want you to update by software. No. They want you to update by hardware. Which means to get ICS Other Goodies either you buy SG2 or Future SG3 or any supported device. It's business decision, and Samsung wants to make money too. Sure many will say hardware limitation. But look at Sony Ericsson phones, their spec are lower compared to Samsung mid range phone and still they are getting ICS Update.

true but who buys a sony anymore? the sgs1 was a hit but they were to fragmented from the start. sgs2 doesnt differ much from one another besides the tcrippled version. i really dont understand why samsung doesnt save costs and make third versions the gsm version with a sim card and a cdma version with sim card and an unlocked version with sim card

Welcome to the samsung monopoly game, do not collect pass GO, go directly to jail! Oh and another one, samsung just left an iCS device on your table and when you get excited and touch it, poof oops it is only a hologram teaser. I have my old vibrant on android 4.0.3 ICS now but since I am with sprint now, Epic Touch 4G FTW for now!
31. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
the epic touch 4g is nice. by the way i spoke with sprint yesterday and they will be getting the white version on the 8th

Maybe Samsung is getting smug?
Shame on you, Samsung...
Well, that´s the advantage of Android. Manufacturer X is giving you a hard time? Switch to Manufacturer Y.
If Samsung keeps the same behaviour for future phones, I´m most certainly not staying with them.

Fandroids won't mind for sure :) But don't fandroids claim that android devices are soooooo advanced. Is this what you call advanced? Hahahahahahaha. It's so advanced that it cannot get a software update, hahahahaha. And how old is this phone? Hahahahahahaha
I can't wait to read all the excuses from fandroids :)
18. hybris (Posts: 56; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
The newest and greatest phones are usually advanced. No one ever touted the Galaxy line as the greatest ever. Sure, they were awesome at the time of release and probably still are awesome to some users [casual, non power users, etc,] but no one ever said the original galaxy line would always be the top phone [obviosuly not, since the GS2 line has been released, and GS3 probably on its way.] I bought a galaxy tab a few months ago, never expecting to see a software update. I was pleasantly surprised it got Gingerbread, I didn't expect anything at all. Yet here you are, complaining its a bad phone because its not getting an update years after its released. You're a troll and/or fool.
25. 530gemini (Posts: 2198; Member since: 09 Sep 2010)
@hybris. So what you're saying is, that it is perfectly ok that android devices get stuck with the os version that it was released with and couldn't get an future updates within a year?
And you fandroids call iphone users sheeps? Hahahahahahaha
