Contrary to popular belief, updated software is just as important as hardware, which crapsung never seems to get. Also, I'd trade a much better screen (any HTC atm) than a marginally better processor and camera.

Just like my Apple with Siri and iPhone 4, only having it on iPhone 4S (And coming up with an excuse that iPhone 4 won't handle Siri). Which means all these manufacturers are the same. Wether it's a nice juicy fruit or mouth watering desert, all the same.

what is siri then,Gemini? Is it something magical that can only happen on an i4s and not an i4? No.. its their one big selling point other than a bigger camera. They don't want to cannibalize i4s sales. Maybe if they would stop with these rediculous refreshes and add real features they wouldn't have to give their older phones neutered versions of new OS's.

Siri is an exclusive update to ip4s. Just like the 8mp camera is. Now? Can siri be on ip4? Probably yes, just like an 8mp can be on the ip4 as well. Siri is purely software based, no hardware that is used to run Siri cannot be found on the iPhone 4.

For SGS's ICS update, it's the hardware limitations that prevent a TOUCHWIZed skinned ICS from being installed, Samsung didn't say that the SGS couldn't handle pure ICS.

But my point is, Siri is software based and is Apple's decision not to port it for iPhone 4 because a slightly improved camera alone won't make people want to buy the 4S.

For the SGS, Samsung has no choice as there are people out there (for some god forsaken reason) actually like and use touchwiz and have no idea what pure Android and ICS actually look and work like. Even if they released an update for ICS which totally did away with Touchwiz and gave them a pure ICS , the people who use and like Touchwiz will start complaining. Even if they gave them the option of whether to stick with Tuchwiz on Gingerbread or go ahead and upgrade to Pure ICS, these same people would have no idea and just press update, only to be disappointed that touchwiz is now gone.

listen bub when the nexus s gets it soon the galaxy family will follow. some of the layout of the hardware is different but most of the features should port.

true but who buys a sony anymore? the sgs1 was a hit but they were to fragmented from the start. sgs2 doesnt differ much from one another besides the tcrippled version. i really dont understand why samsung doesnt save costs and make third versions the gsm version with a sim card and a cdma version with sim card and an unlocked version with sim card

The newest and greatest phones are usually advanced. No one ever touted the Galaxy line as the greatest ever. Sure, they were awesome at the time of release and probably still are awesome to some users [casual, non power users, etc,] but no one ever said the original galaxy line would always be the top phone [obviosuly not, since the GS2 line has been released, and GS3 probably on its way.] I bought a galaxy tab a few months ago, never expecting to see a software update. I was pleasantly surprised it got Gingerbread, I didn't expect anything at all. Yet here you are, complaining its a bad phone because its not getting an update years after its released. You're a troll and/or fool.

It's okay with me if the hardware isn't capable of handling the software properly. No where on the box or my receipt does the carrier, Google, or the manufacturer guarantee us an upgrade to the newest software. If that bothers you, I completely understand. But I, for one, don't have unrealistic expectations. All of my devices got upgraded to Gingerbread, but I can't reasonably expect them to run ICS with their hardware. That's just the reality of their specs. My roommate has the iphone 3GS and loves it, he's always talking it up. He got the iOS 5 update and now he hates his phone. I am glad I'm not in his shoes because my phone is receiving software it can't handle. So yes, I'm perfectly fine with getting the OS it was released it [and are you aware that there are lots of incremental "updates" between builds? Even if they are lagging on the newest OS, they are still updating the phone with fixes and small upgrades.]

Thats perhaps the reason why samsung has a bigger piece of the pie when it comes to smartphone sales. Instead of updating a device with similar specs of a flagship phone, they force you as a consumer to buy a new one within in 6-12 months of the release of the latest updated OS.

They are not forcing anyone to buy a new phone. The general public does not know or care what version of an OS they are on
