New Vertu Ascent Ti collection – Carbon Fibre
Vertu Ascent Ti is the newest, high tech model of the luxurous handset manufacturer and carbon is the all-rage material this time, being both lightweight and durable. The new Vertu collection, called Carbon Fibre Ascent Ti offers both. The handset itself sports features that remain pretty much the same, a 2-inch QVGA display, 3G functionality, 4Gb built-in memory and 3.15-megapixel flash camera. How you own cell phone looks like would depend on which model you go for – the Carbon Fibre Limited Edition, Carbon Fibre Grip, Carbon Fibre & Aluminium Grip or Carbon Fibre & Copper Grip. According to the manufacturer, all devices of the lineup will feature the optimum amount of resins and carbon fibers. Truth be told, we like the limited edition Ferrari Series much better, although not anyone could afford to get one of these beauties and we are certainly not among the lucky ones who could. Actually, we are pretty sure the same will apply to the Carbon Fibre collection, although the exact prices have not been announced yet. Units can be purchased after being specifically ordered, so don't expect to see Carbon Fibre Ti handsets in your local store.

If i had to take a guess i'd say very easily, most 'luxury' products have a massive markup. It probably costs them a fraction of what they cost to make, so even if there not huge sellers, at like 500-1000% markup. Carbon fiber while it isnt cheap isnt THAT expensive, as a example carbon fiber hoods for cars can be had for $500 - $1000 ish, for say 10x the ammount of material. so just being generous lets say it costs them $500 to build the whole thing....

Also wanted to comment its a shame to put the ferrari logo on that ugly brick. Ferrari's at the very least are sleek and sexy with lots of nice curves.... this thing could be passed off as a old nokia barphone if you put a cheap plastic case on it and scrapped the ferrari branding....
