UPDATE: The Android version of the game has just popped up in the Google Play store, so you can go ahead and check it out if you want. Just like the iOS game, it's free-to-play but it includes in-app purchases.

It looks like Warner Bros. has just opened up Injustice 2 to everyone owning a compatible iOS device. The mobile game was soft-launched in select markets earlier this year, but only in the App Store.

The situation hasn't changed after the worldwide release, as Android users can only pre-register on the game's page in the Google Play store. iOS players can get it for free, but keep in mind that the game is not optimized for devices with less than 1GB RAM.

Injustice 2 expands on the first game by adding new characters, and lots of new modes. Developed by NetherRealm Studios, the game allows players to choose any of the DC superheroes/supervillains and fight in the arena.

Every iconic DC character can be leveled up with a combination level and star rating system. There's also a gear system that should offer new looks for the characters in your roster, as well as bonuses to health, abilities, and strength.

Injustice 2 includes a deep story campaign that picks up from where the first game left off. It's also worth pointing out that the first chapter of the story that's now accessible on mobile devices will be available to play on console starting May 16.
