The crazy Honor Robot Phone shows off its built-in gimbal at the biggest 2026 event

You might've missed it, though.

Whether we're discussing the best Android phone or the best iPhone to buy in 2026, there's one thing that unites all popular flagships and mid-rangers today: they all look safe (and a bit boring).

An upcoming phone by Honor is nothing like the traditional slab and folding phones we're used to: the Honor Robot Phone has a built-in gimbal with a camera on top.

It looks crazy (in a good way) and we've told you about it previously.

Last night, when Spain triumphed at the FIFA World Cup 2026 final against Argentina, the Honor Robot Phone made its unofficial debut. One of Spain's players took the phone for a spin during the awarding ceremony.

It looks fascinating (and strange)

The Honor Robot Phone is pretty exceptional. Here, take a look:

This is an official Honor video highlighting the main feature of the phone – without a doubt, the built-in gimbal which makes the Robot Phone stand out from the crowd.

This might look super futuristic, but at least one fully functional unit has been made and last night, it was in the hands of Eric García, one of the stars on the Spanish football team:

This marketing stunt better pay off.

It'll be official soon

Meanwhile, Honor has apparently opened reservations for the upcoming Robot Phone in China. The official unveiling could happen at a point in August (so it'll be here before the iPhone 18 Pro, which is expected in September).

We're expecting the Pixel 11 family in August, too, so it'll be an interesting period for novel electronics.

What's it like?

The Robot Phone was first shown at MWC (Mobile World Congress) earlier in 2026.

The extraordinary handset comes with a titanium robotic gimbal built into the top of the phone. Before activating it, the gimbal doesn't get in the way and stays tucked in the back of the phone. When you launch the phone camera, it pops up quickly and supports 360-degree tracking and offers CIPA 5.5-level rating of mechanical image stabilization.

The phone comes with a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide snapper and a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera.

To convince you that the Honor Robot Phone is not a gimmick but a serious tool for serious content creators, Honor has partnered with the legendary company ARRI to bring Log-C recording and professional LUT color profiles to the device.

Other than that, the phone could arrive with the high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, a ~6.4-inch flat display and 120W charging speeds. Standard flagship specs, now let's wait for the official price!
