Samsung's dreaded green line problem keeps spreading. We already told you about it showing up on the aging Galaxy Watch 4, and now a Reddit user says their two-year-old Galaxy Fit 3 has the same defect. It's a fresh worry, even for shoppers eyeing something as recent as the Galaxy Watch 8.
What happened to this Galaxy Fit 3
A Reddit user posting as u/omelettelover1 says their Galaxy Fit 3 worked fine for about two years, then one day the screen went dark and wouldn't turn back on.
A few days later it came back to life, only now there's a bright vertical line running straight down the display.
It should be noted this is a single report on r/GadgetsIndia, so it's a claim rather than a confirmed pattern, and Samsung hasn't said anything about it.
Still, the timing lines up with what we reported a couple weeks back about the Galaxy Watch 4, where several owners described the same green line showing up after the One UI 8 Watch update, though one of them also flagged possible moisture damage as a factor.

How does this Galaxy Fit 3 report change your view?
Why this matters if you're shopping for a budget tracker
In the photos this Fit 3 owner shared, the line runs bright and green straight through the watch face, cutting across the time display in a way that's impossible to miss once it's there. It's the same telltale look Watch 4 owners have been describing, just on a much smaller and newer screen.

If you're weighing something like a Fitbit Charge or a Xiaomi Smart Band instead, this specific defect likely doesn't cross over, since it tends to trace back to Samsung's own AMOLED panels and display connectors rather than anything universal to fitness bands.

What Fit 3 and Watch 4 owners can do for now
There isn't much of a fix to point to yet. Samsung hasn't acknowledged either case, and our past reporting on this same defect suggests it's usually tied to the display connector failing in a way that damages the panel for good, which normally means a screen swap rather than a software patch.
If your Fit 3 or Watch 4 starts showing anything similar, it's worth checking your warranty status and reaching out to Samsung support sooner rather than later, especially since we still don't know how many units are actually affected.
Where this leaves Samsung's wearables
I don't own either of these devices, but watching the same defect follow Samsung's AMOLED panels from phones to watches and now to a $60 fitness band tells me this is bigger than one unlucky unit.
I'd rather Samsung get ahead of this with an actual explanation than let owners keep finding out the hard way, one Reddit post at a time. Hopefully we hear something soon.
