One of the main highlights of the Pixel watches is their incredible runtime. For instance, the Pixel Watch 4's battery life is superior to that of some of its main competitors, like the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Galaxy Watch 8. But the incredible battery life of Google smartwatches has suddenly taken a hit, as many users report that the devices are now not even lasting a single day.
Serious battery drain in Google Pixel Watch
A good number of reports have emerged on online community forums like Reddit related to battery drain that users are experiencing on their Pixel watches. The issue doesn't appear to be affecting only a particular model, as reports suggest that from Pixel Watch 2 to Pixel Watch 3 to the latest Pixel Watch 5, the battery life of almost all the generations of the Google smartwatches has gone downhill.
Is your Pixel Watch also running out of charge more quickly than it used to?

Pixel Watch battery life has been slashed in half
The concerning part is that users are not reportedly losing just a few minutes or hours of battery, but their device is running out of charge in almost half the time that it previously used to. A Pixel Watch 2 user mentioned that they usually used to get 48 hours of runtime, but now the device is hardly able to last 12 hours.

Another user commented under a relevant post that they had around 30% of the charge left on their watch by the end of the day, but now it barely survives till bedtime. Interestingly, looking at the comments, it's difficult to pinpoint exactly when the problem started to occur. Some users say that they have been experiencing this since August, whereas some mention that they have been getting half the battery life for the last few days.
What could possibly be causing the battery drain?
Some users believe that the situation could be stemming from a misbehaving application or a background-running service. We should also not ignore the fact that older Google smartwatches, like the Pixel Watch 2, would also experience natural battery health degradation over time.
On new devices like the Pixel Watch 4 or the Pixel Watch 5, software is reportedly being considered as the culprit behind the battery drain. We can only make assumptions currently, as Google has not yet acknowledged the issue, and the official Reddit profile of Google Pixel products recommends reaching out to the Pixel Watch support team.
In case none of the above fixes were helpful, you can also consider going for a complete factory reset, without restoring your data, once the reset process is complete. It's surely not a step you would like to take, but a few comments from affected users suggest that it actually helped in bringing the battery life of their Pixel watch to normal.
Pixel Watches and their software issues
The battery drain is not the only problem for which Pixel watches are being called out by their users. It was recently reported that some Pixel Watch users were not able to see their sleep data. There have also been complaints about the Watch 4 failing to count steps during workouts.
That's not all. Some Strava users have found that the data recorded on the Google Watch and subsequently synced to Strava is incorrect. All that said, if you are also experiencing battery drain on any generation of Pixel Watch, you can reach out to the Google Support team until an official solution is rolled out.
