Certain iPhone users should receive an important letter next month
The letter will tell eligible iPhone users how to file for a share of Apple's $250 million settlement.

If you purchased one of seven different iPhone models between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025, you are eligible to receive a share of a class action settlement involving Apple, valued at $250 million. Apple agreed to the settlement after being sued by iPhone buyers who claimed that they were misled by Apple's constant promotion of the new "Personal Siri" into buying a new iPhone.

For example, Apple first described Siri's new capabilities at WWDC 2024. To explain what Siri's new on-screen awareness and personal context could allow users to do, Apple ran a demonstration featuring an iPhone user who was supposed to pick up their mom at the airport. Siri was asked what time their mom's flight was scheduled to land.
Siri was able to obtain the flight number from an email` found in the user's inbox. Using real-time flight data, Siri then responded with the answer. In another example, Siri was asked to play a podcast that was recommended by a friend. Once again, Siri was able to obtain the answer by running through the user's emails.

This was an exciting moment for iPhone users who were accustomed to having underwhelming experiences with Siri. Apple doubled down on "Personal Siri" by running an ad in September 2024 with actress Bella Ramsey that once again displayed how Siri will be able to go through your email, texts, calendar, photos, notes, and a lot more.

But those who felt like they were tricked into buying an iPhone only to find that Siri AI was not yet ready are the plaintiffs in the class action suit. Before we tell you what is next, let's remind you that to file a claim in this suit, you had to purchase one of the following iPhone models between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025:
Watch out for a letter from the attorneys
If the judge agrees to follow Apple's proposed schedule, eligible iPhone owners will start to get notified about the suit via email and snail mail on or around September 21. That would also be the date that claim submissions would start and these claims will probably have a submission deadline of December 21. The letter would be an official notice of the settlement and feature directions about how to file a claim.
If you don't automatically receive a letter from the attorneys, but feel that you are eligible, you'll be able to file a claim via the official website once the official site is launched later this year. At this moment, what you need to do is watch your real and virtual mailboxes throughout September, especially starting from the second week of the month forward. Watch for an official-looking letter that contains information about your potential claim.
Not all of the $250 million Apple put together for the settlement is earmarked for iPhone buyers. Twenty-eight percent of that money is going to the attorneys to cover their fees.
