When Google announced the Pixel 10 is getting AirDrop support almost a year ago, everyone was caught by surprise. Since then, the feature expanded to devices ranging from the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26 series to the older Pixel 7 and Pixel 8. Now, it appears another Galaxy phone is getting it.
Galaxy S25 FE is getting AirDrop over Quick Share support
Samsung is expanding the list of devices that support sharing files with AirDrop through Quick Share. The new feature was spotted on the Galaxy S25 FE by leaker Tarun Vats on X.
Apparently the Quick Share update has been introduced with the stable version of One UI 9, which is currently rolling out to various Samsung devices. After this update, the whole Galaxy S25 series, including the Galaxy S25 Plus, Galaxy S25 Edge, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, has the ability to easily share files with Apple devices.

It’s been less than a year since Google shocked the world by launching AirDrop support for some of its phones behind Apple’s back. Initial fears that the iPhone maker could somehow update AirDrop and block Google’s access haven’t materialized, but the official list of Android devices with the feature hasn’t been growing all that much.
Google’s official Quick Share with iPhone FAQ page hasn’t been updated in quite some time, even though some new devices have the feature. Phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 are missing from the list, even though they can send files over AirDrop. The Galaxy S25 FE isn’t on the list either.

Users online were quite unhappy with Samsung and Google when the S25 series got the feature, but the Fan Edition phone didn’t. Some commenters thought that was a way to keep an advanced feature exclusive to the more expensive phones, but apparently this wasn’t the reason.

This should be a default feature for Android phones
I understand that older phones may not have everything that’s necessary to provide AirDrop support. However, I think that every new Android phone should get the feature as part of the OS and not as a special update after the fact.
