Samsung's mid-range Galaxy A50 is already discounted by $110 to $240 with Verizon installments
Like almost every other major smartphone vendor, Samsung is going through a bit of a rough patch, as both global sales numbers and profits derived from the mobile business have been steadily dropping the last couple of years or so. While in the long run the company expects next-gen 5G connectivity and groundbreaking foldable designs to reverse this trend, its short-term growth strategy seems mainly focused on a revised mid-range product portfolio.
One of the most interesting mid-rangers released in quite some time is undoubtedly the Galaxy A50, a beautiful 6.4-incher with a lot of screen, a subtle notch, respectable processor under the hood, modern software out the box, and a very reasonable price point. What's perhaps most exciting about this device is that two major US carriers are already selling it, one of which is now offering a pretty great discount with monthly installment plans.
After barely opening sales last week at a full price of $349.99, Verizon is charging a measly $10 a month for two years (most likely for a limited time only), which amounts to a grand total of 240 bucks. That means you can save a more than decent $110 on an already extremely affordable phone with a gorgeous design and no less than three rear-facing cameras in tow.
The "catch" is you need to activate a new line of service on an existing Verizon account. Also, the savings are available as monthly bill credits, which means you'll technically still have to pay $350 at first (over 24 months), getting the $110 back in time.
But at the end of the day, this is an unusually early, decidedly attractive promotion for a decently well-reviewed handset with a super-sharp AMOLED display, solid battery life, versatile photography-taking experience, and yes, even a headphone jack on deck.
