Some of the best deals on many of the greatest phones, tablets, smartwatches, and wireless headphones money can buy in 2026 are about to begin, and for bargain hunters who feel they might explode with anticipation if they're kept waiting another day, a few totally unprecedented tech promotions are already underway and unlikely to be eclipsed anytime soon.
One of these early Prime-exclusive offers knocks $35 off the $99.99 list price of the Echo Dot Max, which just so happens to be one of Amazon's two "most advanced" smart speakers to date. Unveiled less than nine months ago, the diminutive but powerful sibling of the second-gen Echo Studio was only marked down by up to 25 bucks prior to today, so I have every reason to expect this new 35 percent discount to go unbeaten next week... and at least the following few months as well.
Interestingly, Amazon hasn't released a "standard" Echo in more than five years, so if you can't afford the latest aforementioned high-end Echo Studio, the Dot Max is probably the best (Alexa-powered) smart speaker available right now.

Before pulling the trigger, of course, you may also want to consider the brand-new Google Home Speaker, which is finally up for pre-order at a recommended price of $99.99 stateside. Choosing between the two will ultimately come down to your opinion on Gemini in a head-to-head comparison with Alexa, as well as your summer spending budget.
If you ask me, the Echo Dot Max might be the more sensible purchase at its lower-than-ever price, especially when you think about its surprisingly large and powerful 2.5-inch woofer and 0.8-inch tweeter promising "rich, room-filling" sound. The design is undeniably stylish and refreshingly discreet, the voice assistance more convenient and versatile than ever, and with four built-in microphones, the Echo Dot Max will hear you loud and clear around your entire house... unless, of course, you live in a Mar-a-Lago-style mansion, in which case you can probably afford multiple units (especially today).
