A couple of days ago, my friend and colleague Aman Kumar reported a severe battery drain issue affecting Pixel Watch devices. Now, Google has finally taken notice and is currently working on a fix.

Reports about a severe battery drain on Pixel watches started piling up on Reddit and other community forums. The issue is apparently affecting a wide variety of models, from the Pixel Watch 2 to the Pixel Watch 3 to the latest Pixel Watch 5.
The battery drain is not insignificant either. One Pixel Watch 2 owner reported that their Pixel Watch battery life dropped from "almost 48 hours per charge" to not even 12 hours. Many Pixel Watch owners have chimed in in the comments since the original post, corroborating the issue.
Now, Google's representatives have entered the discussion.

The comment also noted that the issue is "affecting a small number of Pixel Watch users," which made some Pixel owners a tad angry. One user replied that "A small number of people are complaining on Reddit, but this is a problem affecting all Pixel watches."
The same user insisted Google should replace his Pixel watch with a new one.
Software issue rather than a hardware malfunction
The potential culprit behind this strange battery drain issue is most likely a software glitch, arriving with one of the latest Pixel Watch updates. Some users noted that the battery drain happens when their watch disconnects from the paired phone.

The device is constantly trying to establish a connection, draining the battery in the process. Whatever the issue is, it's good to know that Google is aware and working on a fix. Such a fix should arrive soon in the form of a software update, so sit tight and don't give up on your Pixel Watch just yet.
