The affordable Samsung Galaxy Fit 4 fitness tracker is right around the corner, and now, thanks to the latest leak, we have a pretty good idea of what features it will bring to the table.
The first hints of Samsung working on an affordable fitness tracker started appearing back in August. The device was codenamed Galaxy Aero and was allegedly running RTOS. Later leaks confirmed that Samsung was working on a successor to the Galaxy Fit 3.
Earlier this month, the first 360-degree renders appeared, showing the Galaxy Fit 4 in three different colors and from all angles. Now, we have another piece of the puzzle in the form of an app teardown, revealing almost all of the Galaxy Fit 4 's features.

The guys at SammyGuru managed to dissect the Galaxy Fit 4 Manager app, and it spilled the core features of the upcoming fitness tracker. Before you start celebrating, though, just like the 360 renders, the features of the Galaxy Fit 4 are very similar to what the previous model had to offer.
Galaxy Fit 4 health tracking Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy Fit 4 can track a bunch of health-related metrics, including steps, active time, and activity calories, and additionally monitor your stress levels and send alerts if you're stressed for an extended period of time.

The standard heart rate monitoring is also on board, coupled with alerts for low and high heart rates. There's potential support for heart rate zones, which is a must if you want to use the Galaxy Fit 4 as a fitness tracker, as its name suggests.
On the sleep side, the watch supports sleep tracking with the usual data about sleep stages, duration, wake-up times, and sleep score, but there's also sleep coaching kicking in after seven consecutive nights of wearing the device. Samsung recently updated most of its wearables with new sleep-tracking algorithms, and it seems that the Galaxy Fit 4 will launch featuring the new stuff out of the box.
The affordable watch also features blood oxygen monitoring, snoring detection, automatic workout tracking, cycle tracking, food and water tracking, and more. The elephant in the room here is that almost every aforementioned feature is already available on the Galaxy Fit 3.
Galaxy Fit 4 interface and watch faces

In terms of the interface and watch faces, there is some good news. The guys at SammyGuru spotted some changes — new banners, animations, and images describing how the UI works. It looks like the standard tile-based UI Samsung has been using on these Galaxy Fit devices, and the leak suggests support for up to 12 tiles.
The navigation is expected to be similar to the Galaxy Fit 3, with the standard swipe gestures to access different parts of the UI — quick settings, notifications, and apps. The watch faces that this teardown revealed are also pretty standard, they use a resolution of 258 x 428 pixels, which gives us a hint about the Galaxy Fit 4 's AMOLED display.
This would translate to a slightly bigger display than what the Galaxy Fit 3 sports.
Potential upgrades and should you wait for the Galaxy Fit 4?

These documents also described a Goodix GH3036 optical sensor module, which is a low-power heart rate sensor. Furthermore, the Galaxy Fit 4 will most likely use Bluetooth LE, and Samsung could focus on better battery life, more accurate tracking, and greater efficiency.
What's missing are advanced connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, LTE, or a dedicated GPS module. There's no mention of an NFC chip, so mobile payments are a no-go on this tracker.
The potential price of the Galaxy Fit 4 is expected to hover between $59.99 and $79.99, which is considerably cheaper than rival devices such as the recently announced Fitbit Edge, which costs $179.
