Witty city builder and political sim Tropico now available on Meta Quest
Tropico, the humorous city builder and political sim, is now available on Meta Quest headsets. After being ported to iPhone about five years ago, Kalypso Media Digital, the owner of the IP, decided that it’s time to conquer the world of virtual reality.

The VR version of the game was handled by Feral Interactive, the same developer that brought us many mobile ports of popular franchises like Total War, XCOM, Company of Heroes, and Hitman.

In Tropico, players take the role of El Presidente, the ruler of a semi-democratic banana republic. The game makes fun of serious topics like totalitarianism and electoral fraud, but other than that it doesn’t introduce any innovative mechanics.

Even so, if you’re a fan of city builders like Caesar, Cities: Skylines or Anno 1800, Tropico is certainly up your alley. And if you also own a Meta Quest headset, you’ll be happy to know that many in-game elements and menus have been redesigned to provide players with the best possible VR experience.

For instance, the game features customizable locomotion and camera rotation controls, while the main UI panels can be repositioned where you’d like. Not to mention that all main controls can be conveniently accessed from either a quick button press or from the radial wheel.

Fans of the series will be interested to know that Tropico for Meta Quest is based on and includes all missions, buildings and edicts from Tropico 4 for PC and consoles.

The game features a 20-mission base campaign, the Modern Times expansion (12 mission campaign), further buildings, edicts, and a game timeline stretching beyond the Cold Ward and into the 21st century.

On top of that, ten smaller DLC packs are included, which feature new missions, buildings, island decorations, character traits, and avatar outfit. Tropico for Meta Quest is now available for purchase for $29.99 / €29.99 / £22.99.
